Uprising: A Confusing Message

[I recently sent this out to NBC. I am eagerly awaiting their reply. -author]

Dear NBC:

I thoroughly enjoyed your recent original movie "Uprising". I hope that NBC will continue to show quality, entertaining programs such as this in the future. However, I am confused on several points and perhaps you could help me to understand. "Uprising" showed the valiant struggle of the Warsaw Ghetto Jews against their Nazi oppressors, a battle of armed civilians against legitimate government authorities. This is where I get confused.

The message I have been able to gather from your news shows (such as Dateline NBC) and other programs on your network is that civilian gun ownership and use is a dangerous and frightening prospect, bordering on absolute evil. Further, that only governmental agencies should be able to keep and use firearms since they will use these arms exclusively for good. Yet the true story in "Uprising" would seem to contradict that message.

Which of these conflicting messages is indeed the correct one? Is civilian gun ownership bad or does it depend upon the morals and motivation of those wielding the firearms, whether civilian or governmental? If you believe that defense against genocide is a "special case" in which civilian gun use is actually permissible, is it the network's position then that private gun ownership should only be legalized by governments that intend to exterminate large segments of their population?

Your clarification on this issue is very much appreciated by myself and on behalf of the members of the Second Amendment Internet Task Force.

Thank you.
