A teen-ager found shot to death behind a north
Nashville home has been identified as James T. Martin, 16, of the 3200 block of
His body was discovered in the rear of 1526
23rd Ave. N. shortly before noon Wednesday. Martin was a student at Whites Creek

Investigators give this account:
On Tuesday about 7 p.m., two men walked up to
Herbert E. Blount, 48, of 1528 23rd Ave. N., and said they wanted to talk.
At the same time, Blount saw someone on the
roof of his home pointing a gun at him. Blount, who was armed, shot at the
person on the roof and then went inside. When he looked out the front door, he
saw two men running down 23rd Avenue North.
Blount's mother said she heard the gunfire and
also heard someone running on the roof.
Blount said he didn't call police Tuesday
because he didn't think his shot had hit anyone.
Blount later talked to police about Tuesday's
events and turned over his pistol, Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said. A gun
and blood were found on Blount's roof.
No charges have been placed against Blount. The
case is being forwarded to the district attorney's office for review.
