In re the pending prosecution of FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi: the court's dissent
pointed out in a recent JPFO
[CCOPS] Alert may not be the only danger. I have been playing Cassandra to
the news for the past few days, basically stating that if the prosecutor is not
a man of integrity and is subject to being compromised, the result could be a
Danforth/Waco-style whitewashing. This in turn would allow the politicians and
their press to get mainstream America off their backs, clear their boy with a
wrist-slap (or exonerate him altogether), and basically relegate anyone
disagreeing with their conclusion to the fringe. It does seem to be a practiced
M.O.
Some years ago, a righteous law enforcement acquaintance of mine conducted a
mighty effort to get the Boundary County prosecutor (I'm not sure if he's the
current one) to show interest in the case. I remember writing a letter to the
prosecutor because some of us were solicited to pressure him.
And now here is some news that we need to be aware of-- as far as I know, it
has been relegated to local interest in Boundary County only, but it needs wider
attention. It shows the prosecutor definitely vulnerable to being compromised,
and the people from the beltway have the resources, the know-how, and the
historical predisposition to do just that.
At the very least, it should remind us to treat all news on this matter with
a large dose of skepticism. Outright suspicion probably wouldn't be a bad idea,
either.
County prosecutor investigated on two felony charges

May 21 - County prosecutor investigated on two felony charges, deputy AG
appointed to position: Boundary County Commissioners launched an investigation
into the alleged criminal misconduct of Boundary County Prosecutor Brett Benson
allegedly committed two counts of felony activity, including forgery and
falsifying documents, according to an anonymous source. Commissioners signed a
petition Monday appointing Deputy Attorney General Michael Henderson as special
prosecuting attorney to act in Benson's position regarding this case only.
Benson is still the county's acting prosecutor in all other matters. According
to the county petition, Benson is accused of "violating certain Idaho Code
provisions." However, civil council for the Boundary County Commissioners
John Topp told the press that the alleged criminal activity did not have
anything to do with Benson's duties as prosecutor. Benson is represented by
Tevis Hull of Sandpoint. The commissioners were unable to discuss the
investigation. Benson is also not commenting at this time for legal reasons.
