Subject: TV Attack on Gun Ownership
[I have sent the following letter
to CBS and all the sponsors of "The District" -author]
In case the executives of the CBS network and the producers of the show "The
District" havent heard, private gun ownership is a right protected
by law in a document called "The Constitution of the United States of America"
and "The Bill of Rights, 2nd Amendment".
Your constant attack on our constitutional
guarantees in the TV series "The District" seems un-American in these
times when every citizen of the US is being threatened by sinister forces from
abroad. In almost every episode of this, otherwise good drama, private gun ownership
is attacked either overtly or covertly. Several recent episodes have had the
main theme that somehow guns and private ownership of them is inherently evil.
Almost every other episode manages one or more covert digs at gun ownership,
even when that is not the main theme of the episode.
If your network wants to present
an anti-Constitutional message over the pubic airways, it should do so on one
your Sunday morning gab feasts when a you would need to make, at least, a token
gesture at presenting an opposing view. By constantly drumming your antigun
bias on dramatic series there is no chance for an opposing voice to be heard.
This one-sided presentation of a constitutionally incorrect position seems to
me to be a misuse of your license to use the pubic airways.
Accordingly I will send copies of
this letter to my congressional representatives (probably not a big threat since
they are all anti-constitutional liberals like you), NRA, GOA, FCC, all my friends
and, particularly, the sponsors of "The District".

P.S. If you have any input to the
CBS television network executives you should make them aware that there are
many of us legal gun owners out here who are furious about the tone of this
program.
[Note: Since sending this email I have viewed another TV program with an even
more egregious antigun message. Last week's episode of the highly rated NBC
series "West Wing", featured the death of a child by accidental gunshot.
The principal character of this
drama had several long monologues berating private gun ownership in general
and concealed carry laws in particular.
That's two top rated TV series in
one week featuring very strong antigun messages. What's going on here? Our enemies
are very much alive and kicking. -author]
