Defenseless
Slaughter of the Lambs

By David Codrea

"18 Slain Execution-Style at Farm Near Ensenada" declares the front page headline. "Afghans Report Ethnic Massacre by Taliban" proclaims the headline next to the first.

What do these stories have in common? The victims were defenseless. In each case, the ruling faction has eliminated private ownership of firearms from the population being ruled.

Might these poor dead human beings have had moral justification for keeping and bearing military-style "assault weapons"? What about cheap, easily concealable "Saturday night specials"?

Slaughter of the powerless has always been the legacy of gun control. The proposition that public safety will be served by removing the means of personal defense is neither grounded in reality nor supported by history.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There is no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. — Ayn Rand in her must-read novel, Atlas Shrugged
