NRA's SECOND AMENDMENT

February 27, 2002

NRA: "In the name of safety, any person who carries or is exempted from having a CCW permit should be required to have some form of firearm training." [emphasis theirs]

SOURCE: http://www.nraila.org/LegislativeUpdate.asp?FormMode=Detail&ID=268 (Posted on their website, exactly as above, on February 25, 2002)

Bill of Rights:  "...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

With such a diversion between the two, to whom shall we be loyal -- America's Bill of Rights, or the NRA?

Note: Within 12 hours of having posted the above, NRA removed the offending statement from the above page. The following two links will take you to full sized screen shots. The first one has the offending text, and the second one, taken just hours later, is missing the offending text.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
A state may not impose a charge for the enjoyment of a right granted by the federal constitution... The power to impose a license tax on the exercise of these freedoms is indeed as potent as the power of censorship which this Court has repeatedly struck down... a person cannot be compelled 'to purchase, through a license fee or a license tax, the privilege freely granted by the constitution.' —MURDOCK V. PENNSYLVANIA 319 US 105 (1942)
