Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) have introduced sweeping legislation that would fundamentally transform how Americans purchase firearms, requiring federal government approval before any citizen could legally acquire a gun.
The Federal Firearm Licensing Act, introduced on Dec. 17, 2025, would mandate that every American obtain a federal firearm license before purchasing or receiving any firearm. The proposal represents one of the most comprehensive federal gun control measures in recent years, establishing a nationwide licensing system that would place significant new requirements in between law-abiding citizens and their Second Amendment rights. |

Our country was much more troubled and dangerous when Joe Biden was president, but thankfully times have changed, according to several current and former firearm instructors.
“There was a lot more concern about how things were going to go,” said Mike Magowan, chief operations officer for Florida’s Self Defense Emporium. “There’s not as much panic now as there was then.”
Magowan has taught more than 30,000 students how to shoot safely over his 30-year career. He started as a sniper in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division and has earned a host of national certifications and accreditations. |

Our resolution for 2026 is the same as it has always been: to continue the fight for Second Amendment rights.
The sad truth is that there are hundreds of civil rights organizations in the U.S. that ceaselessly fight for every conceivable human right, except the one they don't like. Even though the right to keep and bear arms is enumerated in the Constitution, well-funded groups such as the ACLU, NAACP, and others completely ignore, or even work against, the Second Amendment. |

Iraq’s interior ministry announced on Wednesday a new phased plan to remove unlicensed weapons across the country on a city-by-city basis in 2026, coming amid a growing, though contested, national dialogue on the topic of disarming non-state actors.
Ministry spokesperson Abbas al-Bahadli told Iraqi state media that “there are specific timelines within pre-approved plans based on the national policy to regulate weapons and confine them to state control, alongside major efforts to enforce the security plan in the areas where it will be rolled out in 2026 and to take over security responsibilities across all Iraqi provinces.” |

Circuit Judge Leah Case isn't just the chief judge of the 7th Circuit. She's also on the executive committee of the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges. And as part of the executive committee, she was appointed in October to serve as the chair of the Judicial Administration Committee, which is made up of the chief judges for the 20 judicial circuits in the state of Florida.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has expressed concern about the growing trend of young people using toy gel blaster guns, warning that these devices are increasingly linked to illegal activities.
A TTPS officer shared video footage with the Express highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
On Monday, Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander said he intends to take a firm stance on this issue.

After an investigation into an August shooting that left a Johnstown teen dead, the Cambria County District Attorney’s office has announced there will be no charges filed against the alleged shooter.
On Aug. 31, police were called to Solomon Homes on reports of a shooting. Aquon Tillman, 17, had been shot multiple times and ultimately died from massive blood loss, with his death being ruled a homicide. Originally, no arrests had been made, and the shooting was under review by the DA’s office for possible justified use of force in self-defense or defense of others. |

The Supreme Court will soon consider whether to take up dozens of Second Amendment cases. The justices have relisted more than 60 challenges to the federal ban on firearm possession by people with felony convictions.
Other petitions ask the court to review bans on AR-15–style rifles, including a law in Cook County, Illinois, and limits on high-capacity magazines in California and Washington.

We normally think of the British attempt to disarm the American colonists as beginning in 1775, when “the shot heard ‘round the world” was fired. That impression is understandable, as this was the first time American militiamen and British regulars actually did battle. Against all odds, the militia routed the Redcoats all the way back to Boston.
But that was hardly the beginning of the irreconcilable conflict between George III and the patriots in regard to what was considered the right of Englishmen to be armed. That conflict started in 1768, when ships with British forces were approaching Boston to put down resistance to taxation without representation, searches without warrants and the coercive acts imposed on the Americans. |

Here’s what changes for regular people:
All guns need to be registered. Right now, only handguns and some big rifles have to be registered. Starting in 2026, every rifle and shotgun you own has to be added to the state’s list too. If you already own them, you get extra time to report them.
New handguns have to be on an “approved list.” The state will make a list of handguns that are safe and okay to sell. If a handgun is not on that list, stores can’t sell it in Massachusetts anymore.
Ghost guns are banned. A ghost gun is a gun you make at home, like with a 3D printer or parts you buy online with no serial number. The new law says those are illegal.
