Prosecutors have elected not to file criminal charges against an 80-year-old man who fatally shot his adult son in September during an incident on the family’s Conowingo property, concluding that the patriarch had acted in self-defense, according to The Office of the Cecil County State’s Attorney.
The father fatally shot his son — Joe Berry Jr., 53, of Conowingo — at approximately 2 p.m. on Sept. 24 on a residential property in the 200 block of Mt. Zoar Road while the son was attempting to break into his parents’ home, police reported at the time. |

Robert G. Wright was arrested and charged for shooting Keith King following a road rage incident.
According to reports, King followed Wright into the Walmart parking lot and blocked Wright’s car from leaving. King then approached Wright’s vehicle in a threatening way – which led to Wright to shoot him multiple times.
Georgia’s Stand Your Ground Law allows the use of force if threatened with a forcible felony. In this case, Robert Wright was approached by Keith King in a threatening manner. Wright told authorities he felt he had no other choice than to shoot King to protect himself and his one-year-old daughter who was in the car. |

If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I want to cover a topic that I get a fair amount of questions on but we don’t get to talk about often. Carry ammo for self-defense isn’t something you should be ignoring or overlooking because it's one of the most important aspects of your carry gun load out. Let’s take a closer look at what are some factors when looking at this self-defense ammo roundup. |

Greg Kyle DeBoer, also 61, admitted to fatally shooting Hayes, a resident of Hideout, near the gate house entrance to Jordanelle State Park on September 25, 2023, during what he described as a road rage incident. DeBoer, of Browns Canyon, claimed he acted in self-defense. After the shooting DeBoer left the scene and did not call local authorities, Wasatch County Sheriff Jared Rigby said. When DeBoer got home, he allegedly buried the gun and the ammunition used in the shooting in his backyard. While DeBoer has not been charged with homicide, he faces a second-degree felony obstruction of justice charge for burying the firearm used in the shooting. |

President-elect Donald Trump’s sentence of “unconditional release” for violating a New York law that prohibits falsification of business records entails neither jail nor probation.
But unless Trump successfully challenges his 34 felony convictions on appeal, he will suffer a lifelong penalty that should trouble civil libertarians across the political spectrum.
Because Trump’s convictions involved crimes that were notionally punishable by more than a year of incarceration, they made him subject to a federal law that bars him from possessing firearms. |

HB2292 will ensure that past and present presidents are allowed to vote and the right to possess and carry firearms or weapons in the state of Oklahoma, regardless of the politically-motivated actions of other states. Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) and Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) today reintroduced the No REGISTRY Rights Act, legislation prohibiting the federal government from creating a federal firearms registry. This reintroduction builds on Congressman Cloud’s longstanding leadership in the fight to defend Second Amendment rights and address the ATF’s overreach.
Congressman Cloud has consistently led efforts in Congress to hold the ATF accountable, including supporting appropriations measures to defund the agency’s abusive practices. |

Whether you are looking for a new challenge or wanting to partner a caliber-matched handgun with your rifle, now is the time to check out a .350 Legend handgun. The low-recoiling round first tailored for AR platforms and straight-wall-restricted states now makes its home on handguns of most every type. We won’t get into details here, as we covered the specs and history of the .350 Legend at length in years past. As a quick recap, the .350 Legend has proven itself a user-friendly and pleasant shooter in both long guns and handguns. Introduced in 2019 by parent Winchester, the .350 is a new casing sized for .357-caliber projectiles. |

Pam Bondi, Donald Trump’s Attorney General pick, cruised through her confirmation hearing this week.
“I am an advocate for the Second Amendment, but…” summed up her brief remarks on gun policy and affirmed some of the pre-hearing gripes gun-rights groups had with her. It also looks like it won’t even be a speed bump on her way to obtaining the top law enforcement gig in the country. While Bondi’s upcoming tenure may not be as bad as for gun-rights advocates as whoever Kamala Harris might have picked, I explain for members why it still serves as another clear indicator of where on the totem poll the gun-rights movement fits in today’s GOP coalition. |

This summer, Texas will celebrate its 4th anniversary as a "2nd Amendment Sanctuary" state.
Texas, like many other states, has a long history of being pro second amendment and that's not likely to change. Governor Abbott even signed legislation declaring Texas a "2nd amendment sanctuary", pledging to ignore federal gun laws.
The lone star state is not "lone" on this either. Across the USA, 17 states, including Texas, have declared the entire state to be a 2nd amendment sanctuary and most counties throughout the USA have done the same thing. |

The fate of Washington state’s ban on the sale of high-capacity firearm magazines now rests with the state Supreme Court.
This week, attorneys for the state and a southwest Washington gun shop challenging the law made their cases to the justices.
Lawyers for Gator’s Custom Guns argued the ban on selling magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds violates the clause of the state constitution that protects “the right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state.” |

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has won a victory for young adults in Pennsylvania, where a panel of the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 to remand the case back to the District Court with instructions to enter an injunction forbidding the state police from arresting law-abiding 18-20-year-olds for openly carrying firearms during a declared state of emergency.
The case is known as Madison Lara v. Commissioner Pennsylvania State Police.
Joining SAF in the case are the Firearms Policy Coalition and three private citizens, including Lara, for whom the case is named. |

When asked about gun laws such as “red flags,” Bondi said she would defend the laws of the United States like she defended Florida laws and offered to sit down and talk with anti-gun Senators on “common sense gun safety” laws. This willingness to meet with Senators about implementing what most in the gun community consider to be unconstitutional legislation is concerning for Second Amendment activists. |

The first public hearing on a gun control bill during this year’s Washington State legislative session appears to have set a familiar tone for the debate on gun rights versus restrictions in the Democrat-controlled capitol, with proponents of “gun-free zone” expansion apparently oblivious of state court precedent and the state constitution.
State Sen. Javier Valdez (46th District), a Seattle Democrat sponsoring Senate Bill 5098 and a member of the Senate Law & Justice Committee which held the hearing, was candid about his dislike for lawful carry of firearms in public places. |

Michael Cargill, owner of Central Texas Gun Works, joined with the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) in a lawsuit against the White House over the unconstitutional measure. The Biden administration capitulated before the lawsuit could be decided in the courts and reverted back to the previous policy, which only allows the ATF to revoke licenses for “willful” offenses, not small clerical errors, according to a press release issued by the TPPF. |

Here we are again. Right up the road in Madison, Wisconsin, a community is lighting candles and attempting to heal in the aftermath of yet another school shooting in America.
The second part of the definition of insanity in Webster’s online is “extreme foolishness or irrationality.”
I would argue that this is what America is suffering from when it comes to addressing gun violence. Guns always win out over people.
Ed.: We do put people before guns, which is why we will always support the people's right to keep and bear arms. |

On the supply list for school staff and teachers next year may be a gun if new legislation is signed into law in Arizona.
House Bill 2022 is one of the first pieces of legislation to make progress in Arizona's new legislature, passing out of the House Education Committee on Tuesday, the second day of session. It would allow teachers and staff at Arizona's schools to carry on campus and in classrooms in a move that supporters say would be an investment in students' safety during a time when school shootings continue to threaten the nation's children. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. — Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1. |
