You may be wondering how the woman that shot and killed the man at Planet 3 Extreme Air Park is not facing charges.

Mid-Michigan NOW's Alysia Burgio looked into Michigan laws involving self-defense.

“Michigan actually has a statute on the use of deadly force,” said Chris Christenson.

It's called the Self-Defense Act.

Flint defense attorney Chris Christenson says it basically means you have the right to protect yourself if three factors come into play:

“The 1st factor is that you’re not engaged in a crime. The 2nd factor is that you’re legally where you’re allowed to be. And then the 3rd factor is that you feel deadly force is the only way to protect yourself or someone else,” Christenson stated.

For those who love big bore revolvers, the .454 Casull (pronounced like KA-sool) is often a favorite. Longer than the .45 Long Colt and much more powerful, this ammunition spent more than half of its life as a popular wildcat, not becoming a standard, factory round until it’d been in the handloader arena for over 40 years.

We live in an ever-changing world. Everything around us is always changing and we ourselves are always changing. If we live long enough, we definitely see major changes physically and especially so when it comes to shooting. I well remember the day when I was working on reloading data for the Freedom Arms .454 Casull and shot more than 800 rounds in one day. Then there was the testing of the .475 and .500 Linebaugh Longs (Maximums).

So, in the age of the plastic fantastic, namely the Glock pistol and it’s many excellent clones, is there still a role for double-single action pistols? Or even fully double-action pistols or that antiquated wheel gun so many retro guys still cling to? Why would anyone want one of those when it is so much easier to shoot a striker-fired gun.

I am okay with horse-trading, that's just politics at play. What you cannot do though, is corrupt the principals that form our Constitution, and especially our Bill of Rights. Principals do not change. We all understood that we were working under a contract created by our Founders. What we did not understand was how lawyers, judges, and politicians ignored that contract. They stole the power from us. Now we find ourselves in a situation that we cannot control. This must not stand.

The new Ruger-57 isn’t your standard semi-auto handgun. At a casual glance it appears similar, but it’s chambered in the sizzling little 5.7X28mm bottleneck cartridge, with a magazine capacity of 20+1. That’s a lot of firepower.

There was a time when a long-range precision rifle was defined as just about any heavy-ish gun chambered for the .308 Winchester or the .300 Winchester Magnum. While those cartridges remain popular for going long, the rifles made for the job look very different. Today’s shooters demand a host of special features that were custom-only options just a few years ago, from stock adjustability and threaded muzzles to carbon-fiber-wrapped barrels and even AR-style handguards.
