An intruder killed Monday night after he got into a shootout with a homeowner was identified as 32-year-old Cedric Phillips of Arlington.
Phillips was reportedly one of two gunmen who forced their way into a home in the 900 block of Carthage Way before being met by an armed resident inside. Phillips and the unnamed resident exchanged gunfire on the stairs.
Phillips died instantly from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest and abdomen, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's Web site.
Police have said the resident appeared to be justified in the shooting.
Police are still seeking the identity of the second intruder. |

Last night I had the nightmare that shadows all nightmares. I had a nightmare that I woke up one morning & found out that America Hating Mrs. Obama was the first lady, and even worse, BHO was President. After he & the Democrat run Congress made it illegal to manufacture, sale, or possess all semiautomatic firearms as well as handguns of all types, he declared martial law & was going house to house searching for weapons to confiscate for destruction.
Lets all get out to vote this coming Tuesday & make sure my nightmare never becomes a reality. |

A former state correctional officer has been charged in a series of rapes in Springfield that occurred over the last eight years.
Forty-six-year-old Bobbie McGhee, of Springfield, was arrested on a total of 15 counts in five rapes. The charges include multiple counts of rape, sodomy and burglary.
Greene County court records show that the earliest rape occurred in April 2000, and the most recent happened Oct. 8. Three of the rapes occurred at hotels.
McGhee also is a suspect in a rape in Fulton.
Police say they linked McGhee to the rapes through DNA he left on eating utensils that an investigator collected at a restaurant.
McGhee is being held in the Greene County jail. |

A New Port Richey Police officer is out of jail on bond, facing numerous charges in an early morning hit and run crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Christopher Sutherlin slammed his 2006 Nissan pickup into the back of another truck around 3:00 a.m. on Sunset Road in Pasco County.
Troopers say Sutherlin took off, but was forced to stop because of heavy damage to his vehicle.
A passenger in Sutherlin's truck, as well as the driver in the other truck, were slightly injured.
Troopers say Sutherlin's breath test registered a .148 and a .151 blood-alcohol level.
Florida law presumes drivers impaired at .08. |

"Buckeye Firearms Association has just received word from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) that the NO GUNS signs at state rest stops have been ordered removed. In the telephone call to Buckeye Firearms Association Leader and NRA Election Volunteer Coordinator Rick Jones, ODOT stated that their legal department has confirmed with multiple state departments that the signs are to be removed."
