Few hunters are familiar with the full family of Nosler’s proprietary chamberings, from 22 Nosler up to 33 Nosler. We’ve found the 28 to be one of – if not the – most popular of the bunch, and for good reason. We recently went over the details of 28 Nosler, and now our focus falls on the top five rifles chambering the zippy round. These hit price points from affordable to wish list. Hunting with a 28 Nosler is within the reach of most every shooter, and the round will dominate game from antelope to elk.

Last week I talked about safety measures during times of civil unrest. Most recently, the FBI is warning of the possibility for terrorist activity in this country and suggesting that folks shelter in place. As I mentioned, this shelter-in-place idea is not a bad one because the defender nearly always has the advantage.

The last time I went to Las Vegas, the LED billboards on the strip had stopped advertising Cirque du Soleil and showgirls, and instead were displaying the phone numbers for trauma and suicide helplines. It was Thursday, October 5, 2017, four days after a man with an arsenal had opened fire from his hotel room window in the Mandalay Bay resort and casino onto the Route 91 Harvest Festival down below, while Jason Aldean was performing.

Terrorists attacked innocent victims in Israel. Here in the United States, there are things we can learn from both the Israeli civilians and from the Israeli government.

Like the citizens of Israel learned last week, we are on our own during an emergency and luck favors the prepared.

Near the end of his detailed 79-page ruling, which struck down—for the second time—California’s ban on so-called “assault weapons,” U.S. District Judge Roger T. Benitez delivered a blistering critique of testimony offered by expert witnesses used by the state to justify its prohibition.

There’s no denying that the pairing of the AR-15 platform and the 223 Remington is an exceptional match. The 223’s flat trajectory and low recoil is great for varmint hunting, plinking, and target shooting; however, it lacks the kinetic energy needed for taking down larger animals like whitetail and hogs.

The Supreme Court of the United States declined to intervene Friday in response to an emergency application seeking the High Court to act in favor of Missouri’s Second Amendment Preservation Act. The Supreme Court declined to get involved while the appeals process is playing out; such decisions not to intervene have been common when gun legislation is on an appeals path that could result in it being brought before the High Court at a future time.

How do you convince a bunch of civilians that they need to keep buying new guns? In Episode 3 of "The Gun Machine," host Alain Stephens talks about the man who wrote that playbook: Samuel Colt. He also helped seed the fantastical version of the American West that is often misremembered as fact today.

Maybe you thought that Fast and Furious, the Obama administration ATF operation that moved guns across the border into Mexico, was a thing of the distant past. Apparently not. Fast and Furious was reportedly shut down by the Obama Justice Department in 2011 when the whole disaster spilled into public view and resulted in deaths on both sides of the border, including US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

The age of slide-mounted, electronic sights on mainstream handguns has arrived. With Gunsite Academy offering a special edition 9mm Glock G45 with a red dot isn’t a good indicator of their popularity, then what is? These days, you can participate in any training course and notice that most of the students will have guns with dot sights. In the competition world, mounted red dot divisions have become all the rage and extremely competitive.

When it comes to hunting across the North American continent, bolt-action rifles are the go-to option. However, some hunters wanted to use their semi-auto AR platform rifles to hunt whitetail, hogs, and other medium to large sized game animals.
