The Expansion Mono-Block, or EMB, line is Fiocchi’s premier low-penetration and rapid-expansion ammo, created exclusively for defense use. As of 2015, you’ll only find this in the 9mm Luger variety, making it a very specialized round comparable to Federal Premium’s Hydra-Shock personal defense rounds. The EMBs are part of the Extrema brand from Fiocchi, sharing some similarities with traditional hollow points and other expanding ammunition.

Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts responded to President Trump’s Syria policy by claiming it is easier to purchase a semiautomatic rifle than it is to purchase Sudafed.

Watts did not mention that the FDA allows Sudafed to be purchased at retail by simply showing one’s driver’s license. There is no waiting period or National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check. However, a NICS check must be performed on each individual seeking to buy a semiautomatic rifle at retail and, in some states, that check must be preceded by securing a gun owners’ license or a certificate of gun safety.

Rock Island Armory — sometimes they create a niche, sometimes they fill a niche. There wasn’t a 1911 in .22 Magnum but now there is. I can just hear the engineers when company president Martin Tuason left the room — “He wants us to what?” “I think he said ‘build a .22 Magnum 1911.’ ”

The issues with the Adams Arms rifles began almost immediately. The first batch of AR-15s ordered from the Odessa-based manufacturer by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office had some trigger problems, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said. Then, in later batches, a few rifles switched on their own from semi-automatic to fully automatic fire.

I hate talking about morbid life experiences unless it might help someone avoid them. When I was about 15 years old I had to put down a disease-stricken cow. For some reason—probably because of Hollywood movies of the time—I chose a 9mm handgun. To make a horrible, drawn-out story short, the task ended with an empty 9mm magazine and me running to get my .30-30 Winchester that I should have chosen in the first place. I learned that the 9mm simply did not have the energy to penetrate adequately enough to kill quickly. Poor cow.

In recent years, many mass shootings have taken place at so-called "gun-free zones" like schools, churches, and movie theaters. In these places, only the shooter is armed and it can take several minutes for law enforcement to respond, which leaves victims exposed like sitting ducks. Now, one lawmaker is looking to change that. Michigan State Rep. Gary Eisen has introduced a bill that would make private owners of gun-free zones liable for injuries or deaths that occur on their properties. "This bill creates a cause of action," says Emily Taylor, Houston-based gun rights attorney. "So if a private business owner decides to ban firearms and then you're injured on their property, you can sue them."

Four people were killed and at least 12 others, including a 9-year-old boy, were wounded by gun violence across Chicago since the start of the weekend. The most recent fatal shooting happened Sunday night in Humboldt Park. Ignacio Olmos, 32, was exiting a vehicle at 10:11 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Karlov Avenue when he was shot in the head by a man leaving the same vehicle, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday said more judicial review is required before it can be determined if the Atlanta Botanical Garden can prohibit visitors from carrying firearms on its property. What must be determined now is whether its 50-year lease with the city of Atlanta is written in such a way that gives the botanical garden the right to exclude firearms. Because the actual lease was never made a part of the record in the case, a Fulton County judge must now review its terms before making a final decision, Justice Charles Bethel wrote for the unanimous court.

A Michigan lawmaker who attempted to ban guns from her office with a sign on the door has been ordered to take it down by House Speaker Lee Chatfield.

Rep. Kara Hope, D-Holt, posted a sign on her office door on Sept. 10 encouraging constituents not to bring their guns in when they come to meet with her: “For the safety and comfort of my staff and myself, only members of law enforcement may bring firearms into this office,” the sign read.

Hope, a freshman Democrat in the legislature, said the sign was prompted by the Open Carry Day event at the Capitol, where gun rights advocates gathered to support the Second Amendment.

If Beijing is certainly the heart of the temperamental dragon where almost anything is possible under the watchful eye of god, then Hong Kong represents the industrious and powerfully steady mitochondria of the beast, facilitating the empire in brash decadence. As the UK inexplicably abandoned the prosperous colony of hybrid Capitalism in 1997, and left the future susceptible to the ambiguous pretense of Deng’s “one country, two systems” policy of bureaucratic horrors, it was only a matter of time before the obligatory impasse between economic philosophies resulted directly from the eternal attrition and corruption of Communism infested with oligarchs.

I believe we are living in exciting times. Yes, there is quite a bit of division across our great land, but there is also much unity. The more individuals make their personal safety their own responsibility, the more we will see our landscape change. The change is for the better and will encourage more self-reliance. We are a proud country, and individualism is a central part of that pride. I’m grateful to be living in these exciting times, as I have a part in shaping our future, albeit a very small part. I have the privilege of educating the public on many things related to personal defense and I take this responsibility seriously.

Gun rights will be in the Supreme Court's sights this term after all. The justices Monday kept a case about a New York City gun control regulation on its 2019 docket despite action by the city and state to erase the regulation from the books. The court's refusal to dismiss the case represents a temporary victory for proponents of gun rights, who hope the high court will go beyond the letter of the law and expand Second Amendment protections from the home to public places.

Despite a host of legal restrictions on firearms and knives, not to mention a society that increasingly resembles a panopticon in the thoroughness of the surveillance to which it's subjected, the U.K.'s crime rates remain stubbornly resistant to reduction. Last year, London's murder rate briefly overtook that of New York City—a feat likely to be repeated as crime continues its decline in the U.S.—and the latest U.K. figures show an increase in violent crimes committed with both guns and knives.

No “store closing” signs are up at the Eden Prairie Gander Outdoors, but store employees said Monday that the store is closing. They have not been given a closing date. The Eden Prairie store re-emerged about 18 months ago as a Gander Outdoors after it was on the closing list of bankrupt Gander Mountain. Gander Mountain declared bankruptcy in 2017. A new ownership group led by Camping World bought assets and reopened a number of the 160 locations that had closed.
