Colt released the .38 Super Automatic cartridge in 1929, as a hotter and heavier load than the .38 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP) that it was modeled after. The .38 Super is in a twin case to its parent and designed for Colt’s semi-automatic, magazine-fed pistol in a 1911 style.

The ammo features a bullet of the same size and weight, a .356-inch lead projectile with a standard weight of 130 grain (gr), loaded into a semi-rimmed (and sometimes rimless), straight-walled case that measures .900 inch. When fit with the bullet, the round comes in with a total length of 1.280 inches.

One of the most popular handgun cartridges available on the market today, the .380 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP) is an easy-to-carry self-defense cartridge. With a variety of small, lightweight compact pistols chambered in this caliber, its mild recoil and minimal muzzle blast make it a popular choice among those who carry concealed, police officers looking for a capable back-up gun, and general backyard plinkers and target shooters.

Township officials and their attorneys are again trying to get a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit over a proposed shooting range. Oakland Tactical Supply owner Mike Paige and five firearms owners recently made headway in federal appeals court in their 2018 suit against the township, which sent the case back to a lower court, but now the plaintiffs will have to convince the same district court judge who ruled against them in 2020 to change his mind.

In the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s much-anticipated announcement he is running for office again, the establishment media couldn’t resist the temptation to call him a liar, remind the country he was “the only president impeached twice,” and note how many of his endorsed candidates were defeated at the midterms.

Attorneys for Highland Park say that the pro-gun group that filed a lawsuit to overturn the city’s ban on assault weapons doesn’t have the right to do so should be taken out of the case.

A law in Highland Park defined “assault weapons” almost ten years ago and made it illegal to have them in town.

Good equipment is composed of good parts and pieces. Whether it’s a fantastic optic that is awesome because of the lenses and adjustment points or a great gun because it has a nice trigger, good sights, reliable action, and durable pieces that work right together, good gear is good because of what makes it.

SIG Sauer's optics division updated the design of its already popular Romeo 4 series 1x20mm red dots by using a more common battery system and ambi controls.

The new Romeo 4XT Pro follows in the footsteps of SIG's Romeo 4T and Romeo 4S closed red dots with the biggest change coming in the fact that the 4XT Pro uses a single AAA battery rather than the solar-powered/CR2032 battery backup of the 4S/4T. SIG says the expected lifespan of the AAA, using decent batteries, is in the 50,000-hour range.

Opponents of Measure 114 filed a federal lawsuit, the first challenge of its kind in Oregon. It urges a judge to block the recently passed gun law, just three weeks before it's set to go into effect. On Friday the Oregon Firearms Federation, the Sherman County Sheriff, and a Marion County gun store owner filed a lawsuit against Governor Kate Brown and the state's Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, specifically taking issue with the magazine ban.

Handloading The .223 Rem.

Because shooters tend to use a rifle for more than one purpose, they tend to have several loads they like for every rifle they own. When they find a load that they like, they’ll stock up on the components. Generally, this results in not just multiple bullets, but most often multiple primers and powders. Before long, your loading bench and shelves can look like a chef’s spice rack. It doesn’t have to be that way, and while working up four very different loads for my .223 Rem. bolt-action rifle, I proved it.

Bowie knives are back in constitutional law news these days, after a very long absence. The U.S. Supreme Court's Bruen decision instructs lower courts to look to U.S. legal history to see what sorts of restrictions on Second Amendment rights are consistent with the mainstream American legal tradition. According to the Court, the legal history of the Founding Era is the most important, the late nineteenth century much less so, and the twentieth century too late to create a tradition that contradicts the text of the Second Amendment.

San Jose gun owners—get ready to comply with the city’s new gun ordinance come January.

Starting next year, all San Jose gun owners will be required to have insurance that covers firearm harm or accidental firings. It’s part of the city’s new gun harm reduction ordinance—a contentious, first-of-its-kind law that seeks to reduce gun incidents by mandating liability insurance and collecting an annual fee from gun owners. The annual fees would be used to fund programs that address suicide prevention, mental health and addiction services, and firearm safety training or victim compensation.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd. — Alexis de Tocqueville
