Murray police have filed criminal charges against a 22 year old Oregon resident who investigators say took part in a robbery attempt that quickly escalated into violence inside a local jewelry store. Prosecutors charged Beyker Villegas of Redmond with two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated kidnapping, all first degree felonies.
The incident occurred on November 25 at Sierra West Jewelers on South State Street. According to charging documents, two men entered the store wearing wigs, fake facial hair and matching plaid pants. As the assistant manager greeted them, Villegas reportedly pulled out a firearm and forced him toward the center of the store |

“The Civil Rights Division was never designed to be a customer service desk for constitutional amendments. It was built to protect people from discrimination, voter suppression, unconstitutional policing, targeted government abuse, and state-sanctioned inequities,” Angela Angel, a senior advisor for Black Lives Matter PAC, told theGrio.
“It exists to safeguard the rights that are actually being violated, not the ones already receiving warm, continuous hugs from the Supreme Court. Which leads to the core legal question: What civil rights violation is this new office actually addressing?” |

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded the University of Wyoming nearly $1 million to develop what the college calls a “historically grounded” school curriculum on the Second Amendment. The university’s Firearms Research Center said the initiative will give educators nationwide tools to better understand the constitutional right to bear arms.
The two-year, $908,991 grant stems from the department’s American History and Civics Education Program tied to the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations. In September, President Donald Trump redirected $137 million to the program that’s directed by what The New York Times called organizations “closely aligned with the president’s Make America Great Again movement.” |

The trade association for the firearms industry is lauding the Trump Administration’s decision to set up a special office within the Department of Justice dedicated to protecting Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
In a December 2 news item, Larry Keane, senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), said that for the first time, the Civil Rights Division is being “directed to treat the Second Amendment as what it is: a civil right deserving active protection.” That’s a big departure from the Biden Administration. |

Police have arrested the two other suspects accused in Sunday night’s robbery at the Washington Food Mart in which a customer was shot when she pulled out a concealed weapon in self defense.
Christian Zavier Patrene, 19, and Christopher Ellis-Valperga, 18, were arrested Friday and charged with attempted homicide and numerous other felony charges in connection with the incident at the convenience store, Washington police said.
...
Police said the three teens walked into the store at 701 W. Chestnut St. in the city about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and attempted to rob it at gunpoint. A woman playing a video gambling machine inside apparently pulled out a handgun in self defense, but was shot multiple times. |

Byrna Technologies (BYRN) has quietly turned in a mixed scorecard for investors, with the stock roughly flat over the past 3 months but still up strongly over three years, a pattern that invites a closer look.
See our latest analysis for Byrna Technologies.
Despite the weak year to date, with a negative share price return contrasting with a slightly positive 1 year total shareholder return, the recent 7 day and 30 day share price gains suggest momentum might be starting to stabilise rather than unravel.
If Byrna’s niche in self defense tech has you rethinking growth potential, it could be worth scanning fast growing stocks with high insider ownership for other under the radar names riding improving sentiment. |

I love these guns like they’re family, and if you expect me to disown my exorbitant cache of weaponry for Christmas then you’re fucking crazy. And people think gunmen mowing down children are the heartless ones! How would I explain to my daughter, when I permit her to speak, that the woke mob won’t let her pose with her Trump bible and extended mag 9mm?
We are talking about a slippery slope here. If we start limiting what guns we can buy and model, what’s next, banning Christmas trees? Outlawing candy canes? Mandating we all have black Santas and forcing us to acknowledge Hanukkah? All we’ll have left is some lame ass photo of us all hugging in the snow like a bunch of soy-eating, Biden-loving hippies. I feel sick just thinking about it. |

The federal government will move ahead with a promised review of Canada's firearms classification regime that will include consultations with Indigenous communities on the SKS rifle, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said.
The classification review, first announced in March, will take a broad view of the legal framework for firearms, ammunition and magazines while emphasizing simplicity and consistency, Anandasangaree said in a media release.
The government has been heavily criticized by gun control advocates for not including the semi-automatic SKS in its list of banned firearms. |

Legal conservatives find themselves in an unusual position: originalism has reached unprecedented acceptance within the judiciary and the bar. A majority of Supreme Court justices—including at least one appointed by a Democratic president—identify as originalists, or at least strive toward originalism. Guided by the original understanding of those who ratified the Constitution and the Reconstruction Amendments, the High Court has overruled Roe v. Wade, ended the use of race in higher education, and recognized the individual right to own firearms.

The local rebellion against New Jersey’s steep firearm permitting costs gained new ground this week as Howell Township officials voted to eliminate the municipal fees required to carry a handgun.
On November 25, Howell became the 12th municipality in the state to refund or waive the local portion of the permit-to-carry fees. The move signals a widening divide between municipal governments and state legislators regarding the financial barriers placed on gun ownership following 2022’s heated legal battles. |

Based upon her writing skills, it would probably take former ATF official Marianna Mitchem 15 or 20 minutes just to tell someone that they’re on fire.
Mitchem really likes her words, and it shows, according to a long, wordy story she recently co-wrote for her new employer, Everytown for Gun Safety.
Mitchem joined Everytown in August after leaving the ATF. One former ATF official said she reached out to her former colleagues after leaving, trying to target Glock and Glock-type handguns, but more about her bio in a bit.
Her story, “The Supply Side of Violence: How Gun Dealers Fuel Firearm Trafficking,” like much of Everytown’s anti-gun propaganda, targets gun dealers as if they’re solely responsible for crime. |

The Nov. 2 fatal shooting at an Airbnb in Bath Township unfortunately is not unusual in Northeast Ohio.
An estimated 1,700 people in 2024 died from gun-related injuries [including homicides, suicides and accidents] in Ohio, 13% higher than the national average, according to USAFacts.org.
Meanwhile, out of the 50 states, Ohio ranks 30th in gun law strength based on the criteria of EveryTownReserch.org, since only 12 of the suggested 50 laws are in place. In our country, gun violence accounts for more deaths of children 1-17 years of age than any other illness or injury. |

People noticed. A few of them admired him, but most scoffed behind his back.
Eli didn’t care. When he pressed the hammer back with his thumb and heard the four distinct clicks — C-O-L-T — it felt like he was hearing history. For a man who’d spent most of his life secretly believing he had arrived 150 years too late, it meant something.
Still, he knew history had its limits, but did it really matter? He’d soon find out. |
