You’re walking down the street. It is about 9 on a Sunday morning. A man crosses the street in front of you. As you pass him, he hits you in the head. You stumble, and he punches you again and again.

You have your Washington state concealed pistol license. You’re armed. You draw your gun and shoot your attacker. He stops hitting you and runs away. You stop shooting.

Our defender did a lot of things to protect himself. He went through the time, trouble, and expense to get his permit so he could be legally armed in public. He found and purchased a firearm he could carry. He went through the inconvenience of dressing around his gun and having it with him when he went for a walk at a relatively safe time and place. Our defender did not give up even though he was hit. He defended himself when he had to, and he stopped shooting when he could. He stayed at the scene and gave a report to the police.

Meanwhile, Munson has introduced gun legislation this session, including an anti-red flag law bill and a bill that addresses gun free zones.

“There are tens of thousands of Minnesotans that have a permit to carry a gun lawfully, but those people carry it for self-defense, and then they’re required to leave the gun in their car when they go into these businesses that post gun free zones,” he said.

Munson also has legislation that would ensure those on the medical cannabis registry could not be denied the ability to purchase a firearm.

It’s 2021, and with new state legislative sessions underway, several states are renewing discussions of guns on college campuses.

In Montana, H.B. 102 would, in part, “[prohibit] the Montana University System and Board of Regents from infringing on constitutional rights… .” Basically, it would legalize campus carry for those of legal age who have permits. The bill saw broad support from a majority-Republican legislature. It quickly cruised through the House and Senate, and is expected to be signed by Gov. Greg Gianforte (R). Local news outlets reported that the Montana Board of Regents is expected to challenge the law.

“There is no reason a law-abiding person should have to ask for permission to carry a firearm for self-defense,” said Jason Ouimet, executive director, NRA-ILA. “The passage of this bill demonstrates Utah's commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of its citizens.” “We thank Gov. Cox, Rep. Brooks, and all who supported this important bill,” Ouimet concluded.

Gun purchases in Brazil nearly doubled last year, yet controls on the purchase and use of weapons is weak and violent homicides are rising.

In 2020, nearly 180,000 new guns were registered in Brazil, the highest number on record and a 91% increase on the previous year.

In the first two years of his presidency, Jair Bolsonaro has made an array of decrees and repeals to encourage weapon purchases, including a decision to scrap the import tax on firearms (which was temporarily suspended by the Supreme Court).

FN America upped the ante for 2021 with the introduction of the FN 509 LS Edge, a long-slide-equipped pistol aimed squarely at the competitive-shooting market. At first glance, the long slide with lightening cuts is the first indication this isn’t your standard 509. Of course, the gray PVD finish also helps distinguish the LS Edge from the black or flat-dark-earth standard 509, as does the distinct, flat-face trigger. Closer inspection of the trigger reveals a departure from the 509 series, in fact, offering a bladed safety and wider face than the stock 509.

Republican members of the Arizona Legislature apparently were absent that day in middle school when they taught … America.

Otherwise, they would not have introduced Senate Bill 1328, along with a companion House Bill 2111, each of which is titled the “Second Amendment Firearm Freedom Act.”

They’ve tried this before.

The proposed law declares that any other act that violates the U.S. or Arizona Constitution’s right to bear arms is unenforceable.

Members of the Missouri House gave approval to legislation meant to protect the Second Amendment rights of Missourians against an overreaching federal government.

Known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, the bill is meant to protect law-abiding gun owners from potential gun control legislation that could be passed in Washington, D.C. It states that laws and other actions that prohibit the manufacture, ownership, and use of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition within Missouri exceed the powers granted to the federal government. It also declares that all federal laws, acts, and orders that infringe on Missourians’ second amendment rights are invalid in the state.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a mixed effect on Joplin Centerfire, a local indoor shooting range.

Social distancing and a demand for ammunition have kept people away from the range. Cory Adkins, chief range officer for the business, said people are not coming in to shoot as much as they used to.

But the lack of range business has been balanced by customers coming in to buy guns.

Two years after the Henry Pratt Co. warehouse shooting in Aurora exposed gaps in the state’s gun licensing system, advocates are preparing to bring back reform legislation.

The new versions of the bill are expected to be similar to a previous version that failed to make it out of the legislature. Though lawmakers said there is room for discussion and tweaks on some points, they said three points would be key: requiring residents to provide their fingerprints before obtaining a firearm license; requiring background checks on additional types of gun sales; and providing for action by the Illinois State Police to enforce gun license revocations.

The bill’s author, Senator Nathan Dahm, revealed his motivations in an interview with KOCO, saying “Drivers in these situations should not be held liable or responsible for injury by trying to escape a threatening and dangerous situation. I strongly support the right to peacefully protest, but when these protests turn violent, citizens should have every right to protect themselves and their property.”

Those who own the night, own the fight. Attacks often happen in the shadows, where predators feel they are shielded by the dark. It could be a home invasion in the dead of night or a lurking assailant in a dimly lit parking lot.

Night sights give you the power to get on target even when you are dealing with low-light situations. Normally, gun owners have been forced to pay extra to buy their own night sights and then pay again to have them installed. But now, more than ever, there are guns that come with that option right from the factory.

Below is a list of seven great firearms for those who want night sights on a gun right out of the box. Light is power in the darkness. These guns are ready for the challenge.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston
