When Timothy Stopczynski appears in Macomb County Circuit Court on Tuesday for sentencing, the former Eastpointe police detective will likely face up to a 90-day jail sentence for his part in a scheme that saw the department's forfeiture items, including wheels and rims, sold on Craigslist.

Stopczynski, 41, a narcotics officer who worked for the Eastpointe Police Department for 14 years, took tires, rims, slot machines and other items from the department's forfeiture shed and gave them to a confidential informant to fence during the last couple of years, authorities have said.

Defense Distributed's latest 3D printed AR-15 lower withstood 600+ nearly continuous rounds and still did not fail. Note: A direct gas impingement upper was used, not a piston (which diverts the hot gases out the front of the upper). The lower design was verified using a cheaper 3D printing technology - extruded ABS - and didn't show any signs of damage from shooting at a high rate of fire. 3D printed AR-15 lowers have arrived.

Marcus Davis, a Houston, Texas-based restaurant owner, defends murals of Barack Obama painted on the exterior of his establishment with an AR-15.

Even though he is aware of this, Martin Bashir - one of MSNBC's most vocal gun control advocates - praised the proprietor of The Breakfast Klub during a lengthy interview Thursday (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

For some background, since 2008, Davis has had murals of Obama painted on the exterior walls of his restaurant. Unfortunately, vandals have at times thrown paint on these murals including this past Monday.

As Bashir predictably praised his guest - even comparing the defacement of these murals to Obama's struggles with his political detractors! - he e

Madisonville Police Department Officer Jeffrey A. Covington, 37, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, obstruction or retaliation, and official oppression.

In summer 2011, the defendant allegedly attempted to recruit several narcotics informants to plant methamphetamine in the vehicle of an unsuspecting female. Court records reveal that the intended victim, Laura Covington, was the defendant’s ex-wife and had been engaged in a lengthy child custody battle with him.

Weeks after the county Sheriffs’ PBA blasted Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s SAFE ACT legislation, Alan Grattidge, chairman of the county’s Board of Supervisors, released a statement saying it should be repealed. Grattidge and other supervisors from the county plan to go to Albany on Thursday to speak to state leaders about their concerns. It’s a pretty risky strategy opposing a governor who is notoriously sensitive about criticism and presently has the power to name the locations of where casinos would go if they are legalized by voters.

Once again demonstrating that the hysterical war on the Second Amendment knows no bounds, a pastor in St. Louis will offer to buyback toy guns later this year.

Over-the-top reactions to children with toy guns now the customary reaction of public employees and various state bureaucrats in charge of indoctrinating America’s children.
“My wife and I feel that we need to do everything we can to not allow our kids to get exposed to this too early. They’re going to get exposed to it but we can protect them early on so they don’t get a distorted view of what those can do to the human body,” Pastor Rodney Francis of the Washington Tabernacle Baptist Church told KMOX 1120.

“We want to engage the culture of violence and one of the strate

“I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house,’” Biden said.

Why a shotgun? Because “you don’t need an AR-15. It’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use.” Biden’s advice is not only strategically poor (firing two rounds into the air from a two-round shotgun leaves you effectively unarmed), but it also leaves one vulnerable to the very real possibility of negligent homicide, as bullets that are fired up eventually do come down, many times with deadly consequences.

In a chamber dotted with female legislators wearing new camo scarves, the state House on Monday passed a gun measure that is wildly popular among the GOP-controlled Legislature even though it raises serious constitutional issues.

House Speaker Mike Chenault, R-Nikiski, is the prime sponsor of House Bill 69, which passed 31-5 on Monday after a lengthy and impassioned debate.

It declares that guns and ammunition possessed by Alaskans are exempt from federal gun laws. It also subjects federal agents to felony charges if they try to enforce any future federal ban on semi-automatic weapons or ammunition or enforce any new federal requirement for gun registration.

"Allowing people to carry concealed weapons in a confined space like a bus or a train, especially on an elevated track or a subway, would create an unsafe environment for the more than 2 million people who use mass transit every day," CTA President Forrest Claypool told lawmakers.

...

The gun lobby is digging in its heels over the transit exemption, though. "We think that just because you avail yourself of public transit that you should not be deprived of your right to self-defense," National Rifle Association lobbyist Todd Vandermyde said.

The poll found that 61 percent of registered voters surveyed think tightening laws on ammunition and gun sales is more important than a resident's right to own a firearm, while 34 percent said their Second Amendment right was a higher priority. Five percent had no opinion.

Earlier this month, state Senate Democrats unveiled a 10-bill package that would make California the most restrictive state for possessing firearms.

"Tough Targets," a 2012 paper by the libertarian Cato Institute, highlighted hundreds of news reports nationwide where armed citizens thwarted criminals and determined that police departments underreport defensive gun uses because cases involving justifiable weapons use often are dropped. Kleck estimates defensive-gun-use incidents to be as high as 2.5 million a year, though the federal crime survey puts the figure just above 100,000.

Niche calibers are popular with many people for a variety of reasons, but they often suffer from one common problem: a lack of modern self defense ammunition. Modern self defense ammo is largely being made for only the most common calibers: .380 ACP, .38 Special, 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

Hornady Manufacturing, however, continues to support many of the less common calibers with continued production of classic designs and introductions of new, cutting edge loads. In the past two years, the company has expanded support of many niche calibers with the Critical Defense line.

Now, Gottlieb is hoping to open the legal floodgates by litigating dozens of cases nationwide.

Call it pushback to the pushback to the pushback. Our Ken Lovett this morning reported that a new coalition of activists, celebrities and unions are banding together against critics of the NY Safe gun regs enacted in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. school massacre. Today, The Second Amendment Foundation is launching a new "Equal Gun Rights" counter-campaign which warns of "the racist outcome of gun control" in large cities that tend to be home to more non-whites than rural areas with fewer weapons-licensing restrictions.

It asks people to sign a petition to be sent to Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Congress.

“[Tell them] to end racist gun control laws and demand equal gun rights for every American,” the Foundation urges.

“It doesn't matter where you live, whether in the city, suburbs, or a rural area,” said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb. “All law-abiding citizens should be able to defend themselves and their families.”

The campaign and video highlight what the foundation says is “the disproportionate impact of gun control laws on African-Americans, Latinos, and other minorities, and show how it leaves large groups unable to defend themselves, their families, or their businesses.”
