The Ballistic Tip is Nosler’s trademark name for their line of hunting ammunition – which is a hollow point with the front cavity filled with a hard plastic polymer, creating an extremely aerodynamic bullet shape. When impacting a target, the bullet tip is driven toward the rear of the bullet, resulting in a very uniform expansion or fragmentation or both, depending on the exact line of ammo in question. The Ballistic Tip line is almost entirely made for hunting rifles, though there are a few exceptions out there for pistols and muzzleloaders.

Today was a big day. I took ownership of my first guns as an American. I’m blessed and lucky to be living in such a great state and country. For some of you, buying a gun might be a normal everyday thing, but for me, it was a big deal. Let me explain. I recently became a resident of the United States. Originally, I'm from Canada. Yes, you can own guns in Canada, but the laws are getting so strict there that recreational shooting and shooting sports are getting downright tedious. Mag limits, transport laws, and in May of last year, the Liberal government banned upwards of 1,500 different types of semi-automatic rifles. Canada deemed them to be “military-style assault weapons.” There's also talk of banning handguns.

The year 1977 was pivotal to Americana, as Atari was released, Elvis died, and Browning first imported a neat new double-action pistol from Europe. The Swiss gunmaker SIG, in a move to comply with Geneva's tough gun export laws, partnered with J.P. Sauer & Sohn of Eckernförde, West Germany, to produce guns without having to cut through layers of Swiss red tape. Thus was born Sig-Sauer in 1976. The new organization's first gun would be the P220.

Roundhill Group’s Federal Firearm License (FFL) has been approved, according to a report from Utica, NY, CBS TV affiliate WKTV. Approval clears the way for the company to resume manufacturing guns under its RemArms label from the famed Ilion, NY, factory it purchased during last fall’s Remington Outdoor bankruptcy proceedings. The firm now owns the rights to produce all Remington firearms and holds the patents, with the exception of Marlin’s assets, which went to high bidder Ruger.

A national hunting group filed a lawsuit Tuesday to force an immediate start to Wisconsin’s wolf season before President Joe Biden’s administration restores federal protections for the animals. The Trump administration removed Great Lakes wolves from the federal endangered species list last month, handing management rights to the states. Wisconsin law requires the Department of Natural Resources to hold a wolf hunt between November and February; the agency is planning a season that will begin in November.

My local community has seen an uptick in violent crime since Coronavirus arrived last spring. The neighborhood listserv, which used to be filled with “free on the curb” sort of posts, is now populated with dire warnings about break-ins, carjackings, assaults, aggressive panhandlers, even sexual assaults and murders.

A small business owner says he was banned from selling a "Free Kyle" shirt on the e-commerce platform Shopify referring to Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois teen accused of killing two people during unrest in Kenosha, Wis. The company told Seth Weathers, founder and owner of BringAmmo.com, that the product violated its Acceptable Use Policy, Weathers said. Weathers is now accusing Shopify of anti-conservative bias, telling FOX Business that the decision had little explanation and came "out of the blue," since the item had been listed since summer 2020.

University of Missouri System employees may bring guns to campus but they cannot fire the gun or bring explosives or other weapons to campus, the Western District Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday. The appeals court considered whether a university rule prohibiting weapons on campuses, except for employees such as campus police, conflicted with a Missouri law that said state employees cannot be prohibited from having a gun on state property if the firearm is in a locked vehicle and cannot be seen.

A bill in the Florida legislature allows a gun owner to bring a gun into a church or other house of worship, even where there’s a school attached to the house of worship or on the same property. Supporters say places of worship face a threat of violence, and it’s necessary to have worshippers who are armed and are trained in the use of a gun.

Soaring gun sales are continuing now that anti-gun Democrat Joe Biden has moved into the White House, with the National Shooting Sports Foundation declaring its “adjusted” figure related to the actual FBI National Instant Check System count to be up a whopping 61.7 percent above the number of background checks for firearms in January 2020.

The FBI’s raw data for January shows 4,317,804 total background checks initiated (although NSSF set the “raw data” figure at 4,288,240 for the month), while the number of checks likely related specifically to gun transactions is 2,052,130. That reflects a 75.2 percent increase over January 2020.

Additionally, the bill bans all magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds unless the magazine has been permanently altered.

Longtime gun rights supporters know that gun owners need to stick together. Over/under shotgun and revolver aficionados help to fight semi-automatic bans, because their guns would be next on the chopping block. Those over 21 fight firearms restrictions on 18-21-year-olds, because such gun controls diminish the Second Amendment right, deter future gun owners, and weaken the shooting community. Hunters with access to sufficient private land fight for greater hunting access to public land to help ensure more hunters can take to the field, thus preserving America’s hunting heritage.

After a passionate plea from a Becker County resident, the Becker County Board may consider a request to declare Becker County a Second Amendment sanctuary county. Joseph Allen spoke to commissioners Tuesday during the public comment portion of the Tuesday, Feb. 2, county board meeting. “There’s way too much rhetoric coming out of Washington or St. Paul every time you turn on the TV or Internet, and a lot of people are scared that the average American citizen is going to be made a felon just because they own a weapon,” he told commissioners.
