"The Five-SeveN pistol is small enough to fit into your pocket but packs a big punch - its bullets can penetrate a bulletproof vest. One of the weapons was recently pulled off the streets of Camden County, N.J., and New Jersey and New York lawmakers want them out of the hands of the public for good."
"New Jersey Democratic Sens. Jon Corzine and Frank Lautenberg, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., on Thursday introduced a bill that would make it illegal for anyone except a police officer or military official to possess the assault pistol." |

"Today, legislation was introduced in the House and Senate to eliminate a clear and present threat to police officers across America -- a handgun that shoots body armor piercing bullets."
" 'We are very grateful to Senators Lautenberg, Corzine and Schumer and Congressman Eliot Engel for introducing legislation in the Senate and the House of Representatives to outlaw this weapon,' said Michael Barnes, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence united with the Million Mom March. 'This weapon is a tragedy waiting to happen.'" |

Referring to the Five-seveN handgun in a press conference by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Mike Barnes today suggested that the NRA's President, Wayne LaPierre, "put on a bullet proof vest, and we'll fire the weapon at him, and see what happens. He should put his body where his mouth is."
NRA Response: It is pathetic to see the gun control lobby make hysterical statements to resurrect their failed political agenda. According to the BATFE, this armor-piercing ammunition is only available to the military and police. The Brady Campaign continues to deceive the American people in their effort to ban firearm ownership by all law-abiding Americans. |

"Some branded it an invitation for gunfights in the streets, while others described it as capturing the spirit of the constitutional right to bear arms."
"The House took the latter view Wednesday in endorsing a bill that would give Montanans more freedom in how they handle their guns."
"The measure, tentatively approved 68-31, says that simply brandishing a firearm in self defense is not a crime. It also bars employers from forbidding workers to keep guns in cars or trucks parked at the business." "But representatives refused to restore one provision to the original bill by Rep. Jack Wells, R-Bozeman, that would have allowed Montanans to carry concealed weapons without a permit. That, lawmakers said, went too far and would expose law officers to increased danger of being shot." |

"Why do organizations like the Million Mom March, which has a membership far, far below a million, continue to push radical gun control? The evidence that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens not only does not increase violent crimes, but actually reduces violent crime, is overwhelming. Yet these people continue to make up statistics and tell outright lies about guns and concealed carry permit holders. Perhaps they are allowing feelings to override logic and reason. Perhaps they are so delusional as to think that disarming Americans will help when every bit of evidence shows that philosophy to be dead wrong." |
