For collectors and sellers of firearms, there is no better resource than the Blue Book of Gun Values, now in its 41st edition and available for pre-order for shipments starting in April 2020. This edition, in particular, is one worth noting, as it's the first published without Blue Book Publications Publisher Steve S.P. Fjestad at the helm. Fjestad passed away in July 2019 after a short battle with cancer. This 41st edition is dedicated to his memory and shows Fjestad on the cover, holding the company's one millionth Blue Book published.

What could be more American than fried chicken, apple pie, and gun culture? After all, it was widespread ownership of firearms — and familiarity with them — that allowed our nation to be created in the first place. Alas, it would seem that Russians are more American than most Americans, when it comes to teaching kids about guns at an early age. They have long held timed competitions in which young people take apart and reassemble AKs.

Thirty years ago, when the .416 Rem. Mag. was announced, it was billed as a cartridge that “filled one of the last gaps in the hunting-cartridge lineup.” This hasn’t stopped cartridge makers from devising all sorts of new rounds to improve upon existing designs, however. Some of those new designs have been stone-cold commercial failures, relegated to the ballistic dustbin, but others survived, and some have even flourished. One 21st century cartridge, however, has become a juggernaut—the 6.5 Creedmoor. Love it or loathe it, the Creedmoor has amassed a large, loyal following among target shooters and hunters alike that doesn’t show any signs of slowing.

When USPSA opened competition to pistol caliber carbines (PCC) in 2016 there were some who opined that the inclusion of long guns had no place in a handgun discipline. However, it was quickly pointed out that USPSA stands for United States Practical Shooting Association and practical shooting covers more than just handguns.

Known by several names – including .45-70 Government, .45 Government, and .45-70-45 – the .45-70 was developed by the U.S. government and is one of their greatest cartridges. Even today, the cartridge retains the respect of hunters and shooting enthusiasts, and is one of the very few cartridges that has continued to thrive after being converted from using black powder to smokeless powder. The .45-70 was developed at the historic Springfield Armory in Massachusetts as a short-term replacement for the .50-70, which had been adopted just over a decade before.

A group of people in Genesee County plan to ask the county board of commissioners to approve a resolution that would make Genesee County a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

If county commissioners approve this resolution, it would re-emphasize a person's right to own a gun and would interfere with any proposed gun control legislation.

It's a growing trend making its way across cities and towns in Michigan.

“I’m all for the background checks and all that, I believe that needs to be done but we don’t need anybody trying to disparage our right to own and bear arms,” said Jerry Katich.

Katich is a retired veteran, a gun owner and the co-chair of the Genesee County group “Michigan for 2A Sanctuary Counties- Genesee.”

Today, the NRA filed legal challenges against Initiative Petition 61 and Initiative Petition 62, which severely restrict and regulate commonly-owned firearms, making it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights. NRA previously filed a legal challenge against Initiative Petition 60 on Friday. The legal challenges assert that the ballot titles violate Oregon law (ORS 250.035) by not alerting voters of the changes in the law proposed in the measures.

Young minority women are disproportionately victimized by violent criminals. That explains why Connecticut Democrats want them disarmed. Here is their horrible bigotry at work. Criminals want easy victims. Unfortunately, young women are more likely to take public transportation late at night. Minority women are more likely to live in our violent inner cities. Women are weaker than men 90 percent of the time. Those factors explain much of why young minority women are robbed, assaulted, raped and murdered so often. There is another factor as well. Young minority women were less likely to go armed.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The NRA has a point about the inadvisability of simply taking guns away from the populace. If that were possible, it would not disarm that small percentage of the population willing to break the law.... Punishing people who obey the law is backward thinking. — Hugh Downs, Veteran ABC newsman
