Tomorrow [Thursday], the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee will hear Senate Bill 1065, prohibiting lessees of publicly owned property from restricting your right to self-defense.
SB 1065 prohibits lessees of publicly owned property from creating gun-free zones. SB 1065 secures this protection by requiring the government entity controlling the property to include in all contracts a provision that expressly prohibits restrictions that would prevent an individual who is licensed to carry a concealed firearm from doing so. |

The Supreme Court just issued a decision allowing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to rewrite the nation’s gun laws. It appears that the seven justices have contracted a bad case of “Gun Derangement Syndrome,” or GDS — a serious infection that afflicts many on the federal bench.
The symptoms are this: when firearms are involved, the judicial rulebook goes out the window. Originalism is ignored, basic principles of statutory interpretation overlooked, and new rules of law invented. What’s left is nothing that passes for reasoned decision-making; it’s the implementation of judges’ personal policy predilections. |

I read with great interest the story about Blue Springs Police Chief Robert Muenz and his experience testifying on firearms legislation in Jefferson City. Lawmakers there are seeking to revive the Second Amendment Preservation Act to nullify federal gun laws, after federal courts ruled it originally violated the supremacy clause of the Constitution. Many law enforcement officials, Muenz included, believe in the Second Amendment yet oppose the real-world effects of this Missouri law, which they believe threaten public safety.

The Department of Justice will have a Second Amendment Task Force tasked with protecting gun owners against governmental "overreach," Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Tuesday.
"The prior administration placed an undue burden on gun owners and vendors by targeting law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights," Bondi said Wednesday in a prepared statement. |

Ten years ago, I would have laughed if you had told me I’d be involved in Second Amendment advocacy work. I’ve been shooting for two decades now, but like most gun owners, I didn’t pay close attention to the political aspect. Once I learned the role that politics plays, I haven’t looked back.
I’ve become increasingly involved in grassroots advocacy over the past five years, and I wanted to share some easy ways you can help advocate for our Second Amendment rights. |

Eric Delbert, owner of LEPD Firearms and Range, expressed relief over the new legislation.
"Giving people the ability to have that Second Amendment and purchase firearms comes with a lot," Delbert said. "Taking this out of the mix is really a headache we were concerned about for the last couple of years now knowing that going forward that's something we don't have to worry about."
The law introduces two major changes: it prevents financial institutions from tracking transactions made at gun stores and prohibits the requirement of firearm liability insurance for gun owners. |

Colorado State Senate Bill S.B. 25-003, which restricts the sale of semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines, passed the state senate and is now on Gov. Jared Polis’ desk.
Last week, WesternSlopeNow talked with District 3 U.S. Rep. Jeff Hurd and District 54 state Rep. Matt Soper about the bill and both said they were against the bill, saying it infringes on the Second Amendment rights of Coloradans.
Those for the bill, like Mesa County Democrats Communications Leader Jen Hancock, say, “It does not infringe on the Second Amendment in any way.” |

PLCAA does allow an action in which [1] a manufacturer or seller "knowingly violated a State or Federal statute applicable to the sale or marketing of the product, and [2] the violation was a proximate cause of the harm for which relief is sought." It was suggested in oral argument that Mexico's aiding and abetting theory did not meet element [1], rendering it unnecessary to resolve [2]. Yet leaving the latter, the proximate-cause issue, in limbo will result in continuing legal uncertainty and ongoing attacks on the industry facilitated by courts that are allowing the most extreme theories of proximate cause in which remoteness is disregarded. |

Gun rights groups are celebrating the Trump administration’s rollback of a Biden-era enforcement policy they say ensnared gun dealers who made simple paperwork errors.
The lobbying organization Gun Owners of America called the repeal of the Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy a significant win for the Second Amendment.
Nicknamed the “Zero Tolerance Policy,” it set more stringent criteria for gun sellers to meet. It allowed inspections to identify licensees with certain qualifying violations including failing to conduct the required background checks or falsifying records. |

According to US officials, Kash Patel, who was sworn in as FBI Director on February 21 and named acting ATF director three days later, has been removed from his later appointment and replaced by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll. The leadership change, initially reported by Reuters, had not yet been disclosed publically by the DOJ. Patel remains at the helm of the FBI, and as I write this article, his photo is still listed as acting Director on the ATF’s website. |

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Wednesday the creation of a Second Amendment task force to investigate potential infringements on gun rights in the executive branch.
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump issued an executive order instructing the attorney general to conduct an audit into various federal agencies to identify policies that unconstitutionally restrict gun rights.

Leave it to the “scholars” at Harvard Kennedy School to come up with a scheme that combines the arrogance of the “intellectual elite,” increasing taxes, administering gun confiscation plans, and – again – purposefully conflating “public health” policies for crime control for the latest pie-in-the-sky gun control plan.
It would be an absurd April Fool’s joke if the researchers at Harvard Kennedy School weren’t serious. Just to be sure, a little digging shows that they received a grant for the study from Arnold Ventures, a known antigun philanthropy organization that funds gun control efforts across the country. |

As the oldest firearms manufacturer in the world, Beretta has created everything from flintlock muskets to submachine guns. One gun, though, became so famous that many people refer to it simply as the “Beretta.”
Like Kleenex to facial tissue, the Beretta 92 captured the entire brand as its moniker. Yet, just a few decades after its arrival, many thought this iconic gun might be headed into the sunset. Instead, it has managed a surprising comeback. Let’s take a moment to reflect on this fabled handgun’s history and see where the design is headed today. |

As law enforcement intensifies its efforts and agencies roll out new regulations, 3D printed guns are becoming a bigger part of the ghost gun conversation. In March 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal rule treating ghost gun parts, including those made with 3D printers, like regular firearms. That means kits and parts used to build these untraceable weapons at home must now follow the same rules as store-bought guns, including background checks and serial numbers. |

A Texas church and coffee shop’s First Amendment suit against local law enforcement officials, challenging state laws that require them to post signs stating that guns aren’t allowed on their property, was revived by a split Fifth Circuit.
Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church and Drink Houston Better LLC have standing to pursue their lawsuit, because their evidence showed that they’re injured by enforcement of the law and their injury is traceable to the defendants’ enforcement of the law and may be redressable by a favorable decision, the Wednesday opinion by Judge James L. Dennis said for the US Court of ... |
