The Pueblo Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution April 1 opposing Colorado Senate Bill 3, which would ban the manufacture and drastically restrict the sale of certain semiautomatic firearms that accept detachable ammunition magazines.
SB-3 would prohibit Coloradans from buying most semiautomatic rifles as well as some semiautomatic shotguns and pistols, unless they get approval from the local county sheriff and complete up to a dozen hours of training administered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. |

The Florida Senate Committee on Criminal Justice voted 4-3 against SB 814, rejecting a proposal to allow lawful gun owners to carry firearms on college campuses, including dormitories and residence halls.
The bill sought to broaden the state’s gun regulations by allowing authorized individuals to carry concealed guns on school property. The bill’s proponents contended that permitting concealed carry on college campuses would improve individual security and give staff and students the tools they need to protect themselves in the case of an active shooter. |

“Federal prosecutors now using ATF’s lies and fake evidence to harm former sailor’s legal appeal,” Lee “The Gunwriter” Williams documents for the Second Amendment Foundation’s Investigative Journalism Project. “It now appears that the only way former American sailor, Patrick ‘Tate’ Adamiak, may get out of his undeserved 20-year prison sentence is through a presidential pardon, because federal prosecutors are now using the lies and fake evidence created by the ATF to fight an appeal filed by the 31-year-old former Navy E-6, who had just been accepted by Naval Special Warfare before his arrest.” |

The ongoing controversy over the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) using facial recognition software to identify gun owners has raised the ire of the head of the U.S. House of Representatives House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance.
U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Arizona, sent a letter to ATF Acting Director Kash Patel on March 27 demanding information about the agency’s use of facial recognition software and artificial intelligence (AI) to “identify gun owners.” |

I understand not everyone has read the U.S. Constitution in its entirety. It's not overly long, but it's not exactly the most riveting work of literature in history. But the Bill of Rights is so short and succinct that there's no excuse for anyone not to have read it.
So when people say baffling stuff about, say, gun control, it's hard to believe any of them have read it. |

Colorado gun owners are facing an unprecedented assault on their Second Amendment rights as Assault Weapons Ban SB25-003, the state’s most restrictive gun control measure to date, awaits Governor Jared Polis’ signature after passing both chambers of the legislature last week.
The legislation, which narrowly passed the House 36-29 with all 22 Republicans and 7 Democrats voting against it, creates a burdensome licensing scheme for purchasing semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. Set to take effect August 1, 2026, the law represents the most aggressive attempt yet by Colorado Democrats to restrict firearm ownership under the guise of public safety. |

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb condemned the proposed legislation, stating, “Democrat lawmakers are pushing a Draconian permit-to-purchase bill right now at the state capitol in Olympia, which only penalizes honest citizens by impairing their ability to purchase firearms. It would not prevent a criminal from illegally obtaining or carrying a firearm, and they know it, which makes this gun control scheme so morally reprehensible.”
Gottlieb asserted that House Bill 1163, the proposed permit-to-purchase bill, is “at best, misguided, and at its worst it will be an unmitigated constitutional disaster,” arguing that the federal and state constitutions protect gun ownership as a fundamental right, not a government-regulated privilege. |

Fed up with states taxing gun purchasers in order to try to curb gun ownership, two congressmen and a U.S. senator have introduced a measure to put a stop to such abuse.
U.S. Reps Richard Hudson, R-North Carolina, and Darrell Issa, R-California, along with U.S. Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, recently introduced the Freedom from Unfair Gun Taxes Act in order to prohibit states from implementing excise taxes on firearms and ammunition to fund gun control programs. |

It’s been roughly 60 days since Pamela Bondi stepped up as Attorney General under President Trump, and the pro-gun community is talking.
For those of us who live and breathe the Second Amendment, a Trump appointee like Bondi comes with big expectations. Two months in, though, the word on platforms like X and in gun circles is a mixed bag. Is she the 2A defender we’ve been waiting for, or is she falling short? |

The Cabinet has announced an amnesty period for unlawful firearms that will run until April 30, 2025. During this period, individuals possessing illegal weapons can surrender them to the Police without fear of prosecution.
Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, Lionel Hurst, expressed optimism about the program despite historically low participation rates.
“We’ve seen it before, though the numbers have not been exceedingly good. Fewer than 10, for example, have been the record for these voluntary surrenders,” Hurst said. “But nevertheless, over a period of time, these numbers can be significant.” |

A licensed concealed carrier shot and killed an alleged attacker in Carroll Park an early Saturday morning, January 2025, in what police say appears to be a clear case of self-defense.
Just before 3 a.m., a man walking through the park in Carroll Gardens was reportedly ambushed by 23-year-old Jordan Dillard, who, according to law enforcement sources, put him in a chokehold and held a knife to his throat while demanding money. The victim, who legally carries a concealed firearm, fought back and ultimately shot Dillard [DRT] in the torso. |

Recently, there have been several shootings in the Corpus Christi area, including a Westside shooting where two teens were murdered and three others were shot but survived. In fact, per a recent Caller-Times article, crime is down nationally, but youth shooting deaths are up significantly.
You do not see this sort of violence occurring in Europe or Canada. Why? Because they have reasonable gun control. But red states like Texas and its politicians just do not seem to care. Since everyone with a gun has proven to cause more gun deaths, GOP politicians like Rep. Cloud just double down on gun insanity. |

California has an additional 11% excise tax on guns and ammunition, and Colorado recently punished gun buyers by adding an additional 6.5% excise tax for guns, ammo and accessories purchased in that state.
Now, a prominent gun rights organization has had enough and is taking Colorado to court over its tax. On April 1 (and no this isn’t an April Fool’s joke), the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) announced it had filed a lawsuit in Denver County District Court challenging the state’s additional tax on guns, ammo and accessories as an unconstitutional tax on the exercise of a fundamental constitutional right. |
