Perhaps the most important perspective to be put on the turmoil within the National Rifle Association that led to the departure of Oliver North as the organization’s president came from an unexpected source: the head of a billionaire-backed gun prohibition group.

Quoted by CNBC, John Feinblatt, president of the Michael Bloomberg-supported Everytown for Gun Safety, commented, “The bottom line is this: As the NRA plummets, the gun safety movement just keeps growing.”

The Indiana Court of Appeals has upheld a state agency's authority to order deer reduction hunts in state parks to protect habitat and endangered plants. Indiana wildlife biologists evaluate which parks need a deer cull based on habitat and previous deer-kill rates. Reducing the parks' deer populations helps maintain habitat for other animals and state-endangered plants.

First, the antigun mob isn’t reluctant to stoop to the lowest levels to attack NRA. With all the scuttlebut about money’s spent by NRA on its PR firm, Ackerman McQueen, anti-gun groups are now using internal matters to challenge NRA’s tax exempt status. Take a look at these links.

Kim Reynolds and future Iowa governors more power in picking Iowa Supreme Court justices. It was in the mid 1990s when the FBI sought to re-arm its special teams with a high-quality 1911. Of the companies pursing the exclusive contract, Springfield Armory stood on top, meeting the stringent requests of the Bureau for accuracy and reliability. These contract guns, built by Springfield’s Custom Shop, soon became available to the commercial market and one example is subject of this week’s review. The Springfield Armory Custom Shop Professional 1911-A1 chambered for 9 mm Luger, features match-grade, hand-fit parts wearing a Black “T” finish.

I listened to Florida legislators argue why school staff should be disarmed. This is the time when legislators need commons sense.. even if we have to give it to them good and hard. If an armed defense is good enough to protect Florida legislators, then it is good enough for our children too.

TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) — Authorities say two police cadets in Texas were shot in the leg after a gun accidentally discharged in the middle of their law enforcement class.

Police say the shooting happened Thursday night at the College of the Mainland Law Enforcement Training Academy in Texas City, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southeast of Houston. Texas City police say a cadet had a loaded handgun in his backpack in a classroom and the gun accidentally fired when he reached into his bag.

Police say two cadets were struck in their legs and a third cadet was grazed.

Submitter's note: That is why you should keep your gun in a holster. Even if it is in another bag.

Following the attacks of September 11th, Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA), creating the Transportation Security Agency (TSA). The TSA replaced private security screening companies with one government agency. Since then, air travelers have bowed to pat downs, bans on water bottles and other inconvenient, intrusive procedures as the “new normal” at our nation’s airports. But does any of this make us safer?

U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar attacked NRA lobbyist Chris Cox on Friday after he warned of the “socialist wave” engulfing America and promised there will be a “rude awakening” when “real America” votes against those espousing far-left ideas. “The socialist wave we warned was coming is here. And it’s not just the two coasts that are underwater, the wave is hitting the heartland of America. But as this circus goes on, millions of Americans will see how far outside the mainstream these socialists have become,” Cox, executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action (ILA), said Friday during a speech at the Second Amendment advocacy group’s annual convention in Indianapolis.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Missouri was one of 16 states that still banned the concealed carry of handguns on a college campus, as of August 2018. House Bill 575 in Missouri would change that, to allow people with concealed carry permits to carry on campus. It does this by removing “institutes of higher education” from the list of prohibited places in Missouri statute 571.107.

President Donald Trump’s public signing of withdrawal from a global arms treaty immediately infuriated the Left, while an audience of about 15,000 National Rifle Association members broke out in cheers Friday.

The president inked a document during his appearance at the NRA’s annual Leadership Forum. American gun owners have been opposed to the treaty, which has never been ratified by the United States, despite support by the Obama administration. But it sat gathering dust in the Republican Senate, and Trump told the roaring crowd that while he remains in office, their gun rights are secure.

When former NRATV host Amy Robbins started training for a marathon four years ago, she felt nervous, she said, after a passing car slowed and followed her jogging down the rural backroads outside a Texas suburb. Nothing happened, and Robbins called the episode “anticlimactic,” although she soon realized she wasn’t the only woman concerned about her safety when running outside by herself. When she started searching for clothes to help carry her gun, she said she couldn’t find anything as cute as her Lululemons. “There’s no functional clothing to help women carry around self-defense tools,” Robbins said.
