Attorney General Gentner Drummond is leading a multi-state effort to encourage the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and create a framework for lawful concealed carry across state lines.
In a letter sent today to House leadership about H.R. 38, Drummond and 23 other state attorneys general emphasized that broad rights for concealed carry among law-abiding citizens promote public safety and respect gun owners’ fundamental liberties. |

In the 2024 election, pro-gun advocates coalesced around a primary request for President Donald Trump’s second administration: a dramatic loosening of concealed carry regulations nationwide, something that Republican leaders in both the House and the Senate have been vocal advocates of in the past.
National concealed carry reciprocity has become the main policy request from pro-gun advocates and the gun lobby in Trump’s second term. The policy would require states to recognize the concealed carry permits from other states, allowing permit holders from states with looser regulations to carry weapons in states with stricter regulations. |

If you’re someone who values the Second Amendment, you should be paying close attention to a Supreme Court case that—on the surface—has nothing to do with guns. But dig deeper, and you’ll see why the fight over nationwide injunctions is a backdoor battle that could seriously affect our right to keep and bear arms.
Here’s the quick breakdown—and why this case might change the legal battlefield for good.
What’s This Case Really About? The Supreme Court just heard arguments in a case tied to the birthright citizenship loophole, allowing the theft of our national heritage. But that’s not the headline for us. |

The Missouri Legislature had once again killed a bill to restore the ability to legally exercise rights protected by the Second Amendment on public transportation. Senator Schnelting has been promoting these bills for years. They make progress, then they are killed by inaction. From mo.gov:
On April 10, HB328 passed the House, 106 to 45. HB328 was sent to the Senate. On April 22, the Senate Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety committee held a hearing on the bill. On April 24, an “SCS” (Senate Committee Substitute) was passed. No other action was taken on the bill before the Senate adjourned on May 14. Thus, the bill was killed by Senate inaction. |

Hundreds of those controversial firearms – Sig Sauer model P320 – could end up back in the marketplace potentially for sale to citizens, KING 5 Investigators have learned.
The P320 has faced accusations by law agencies across the country, including Washington state, that it can fire without a trigger pull. Some officers have been seriously injured in dozens of reported incidents, but none in Washington. |

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Ortega’s shooting spree was interrupted due to a firearm malfunction, which may have saved numerous lives. Assistant Sheriff Jamie Prosser stated in a Monday press conference, “Fortunately, [Ortega] had a malfunction in his weapon which saved this from becoming a mass casualty event.” |

In a bid to explain the classification, ATF workers took Leider to a shooting range to see how the triggers operate, according to people familiar with the outing, who like others interviewed spoke on the condition of anonymity because they feared retribution. At the end of the process, Leider, an Antonin Scalia Law School professor and gun rights attorney, agreed: The devices were dangerous, and the classification as machine guns should stand, the people said.

Gun Owners of America (GOA) is proud to announce its endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for the United States Senate. A proven constitutional conservative, Paxton has spent years standing shoulder to shoulder with GOA in the fight to defend the Second Amendment against unconstitutional gun control.
Throughout his time as Attorney General, Paxton has worked directly with GOA in federal lawsuits challenging the Biden administration’s gun control agenda, including the ATF’s unlawful pistol brace ban and the so-called “universal registration rule.” These lawsuits successfully secured preliminary injunctions for GOA members and Texans, blocking unconstitutional enforcement across the country. |

Portland-based progressive politicians just cannot help themselves. In the wake of being handed a historic loss with the hold on Maine’s 72-hour waiting period law in federal court, one would expect these vehement opponents of the Second Amendment to quell their efforts, but instead, they have launched a full-scale attack on firearm rights.
Earlier this year, Justice Lance Walker of the First District Court placed a hold on Maine’s extreme waiting period law under the precedent set by New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen. |

Dozens of Second Amendment groups are urging Congress to make firearm suppressors more accessible for law-abiding Americans, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The gun rights groups — which include the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the American Suppressor Association (ASA) — called on congressional leadership Wednesday to add Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) in the upcoming reconciliation bill. The HPA’s — introduced by Virginia Rep. Ben Cline in January — would eliminate a national suppressor registry and a $200 tax by removing suppressors from the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934 under the section. |

Wisconsin became the 49th state to legalize the concealed carry of firearms and other weapons in 2011. The law, however, allows the state’s public universities to ban guns by posting signs at the entrance of each campus building saying firearms are prohibited.
The current UW System administrative code reads, “a person is prohibited from carrying, possessing, or using any dangerous weapon on university lands or in university buildings or facilities except with the written approval of the chief administrative officer or for law enforcement purposes."
UW-Platteville has not granted any exceptions, university spokesperson Christine Bellport said. |

The technology behind the idea of “smart” handguns doesn’t seem ready for use yet.
Members of the Democratic Party’s majority in the state Assembly, however, want the state to be ready when the technology is ready. The Assembly recently passed A1191 by a 97-50 vote with Assemblymen Andrew Molitor, R-Westfield, and Joe Sempolinski, R-Canisteo, both voting against the measure. The bill has not made it to the Senate floor yet. Assembly members also approved the legislation during the 2023-24 legislative session, but it was not taken up by state senators. |

House Bill 5 generally increases penalties and imposes mandatory minimum prison sentences for those who continue to commit crimes with guns after they’ve already been prohibited via court order from possessing them.
But the would-be Repeat Offender Act won the backing of gun-rights advocates for provisions that would make it easier for rehabilitated offenders to have their convictions expunged so the records don’t show up in gun dealer background checks.
“...Importantly, the legislation does not alter any existing gun laws that affect our law-abiding gun owners,” said Rep. Bernie Willis (R., Springfield), the bill’s other sponsor. |

The palpable sense of urgency and dread that existed within the firearm industry for the four years Joe Biden was wandering the White House has been replaced with relief and the intention to get back to business as usual. In handguns, trends abound. Double-stack 1911s chambered in 9 mm continue to be all the rage, while integral compensators are the red-hot design feature now being introduced to product lines. “Optic-ready,” the recent popular marketing phrase, has leveled up to “optic included,” with many manufacturers partnering with MRDS makers to offer pistols pre-mounted with open- and closed-emitter red-dot sights for consumers looking for maximum performance with minimal hassle. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
