City prosecutors have ruled a fatal shooting at House of Spirits liquor store in Canton was justified and made in self-defense, Baltimore police announced Tuesday. When two gunmen tried to hold up the family-owned liquor store in the 2300 block of Fleet St. on Jan. 12, a cashier shot one of the would-be robbers, according to police. The suspect fled the shop and collapsed on the 500 block of Collington Ave. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died, police said.

In the era of "fake news" and a seemingly endless number of digital distractions, it's easy to passively accept whatever is viral on social media or blindly trust the information from mainstream media. Doing so is dangerous because when we fail to think for ourselves, those in power can easily step in and claim to be the only moral solution (never let a good crisis go to waste, right?).

There were around 1,300 concealed weapons permits (CCW) issued in San Diego County in February of last year. Through this April that number has risen to more than 2,400 permits.
"To get a concealed carry permit you have to have good cause," said San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore. "We’re evaluating the good cause — we’ve expanded some of the categories and that’s why you see the increase."

It is no easy task to figure which of the 20 Democratic presidential contenders is most favored by the party’s growing progressive wing. Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) are perhaps the two most acceptable candidates in the eyes of the extreme left. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) – who yet may emerge as a leading nominee for her party – is certainly not a progressive favorite. However, one particular attack on her suitability for the White House is of special interest in that it exposes the progressive desire to create a nation of subjects rather than of citizens with individual rights.

Let’s face it, far too often, anti-Second Amendment extremists beat Second Amendment supporters in long-term planning. All too often, Second Amendment supporters are caught up in the short-term – battling each other over the minutiae of this bill or that primary election. Or when a case like Heller or McDonald is won, too many let up a little.

Lawmakers in the Louisiana House have voted to prohibit banks from being able to refuse to do business with companies that are involved in gun and ammunition sales. The proposal by Republican Rep. Blake Miguez, of Erath, comes after Citigroup and Bank of America enacted firearm restriction policies for corporate customers. Miguez says such policies violate the Second Amendment rights of lawful gun and ammunition dealers and could limit their ability to maintain their businesses.

New York's new Democratic state attorney general, Letitia James, announced this week that she is launching an investigation into the finances of the National Rifle Association. The pretext for this probe is that some members have complained about the organization's financial health and management. But it’s just that, a pretext. This investigation is not arising as a result of new facts about the nation’s premier Second Amendment organization. Rather, it is the fulfillment of a political campaign promise that James made last July during a Democratic primary in which she needed to post up on the far left side of the field.

For years, the firearm industry suffered under a drought of .22 LR ammunition, leading to long lines at sporting-goods stores, inflated prices and product rationing. While ammo manufacturers worked overtime to crank out these popular rimfire rounds, it seemed like the days of plentiful, cheap .22 LR were in the past. However, in 2019, .22 LR has been plentiful for a while now, and prices have come down from their all-time high a few years back. With a good supply to work with, manufacturers released several new .22 LR options for today's shooters. Take a look at these rifles and pistols below to see what strikes your interest.
