“The video of this incident shows Mr. Baca being chased and struck with a skateboard by one assailant, being pursued while he was backing up, shouts in the crowd to ‘kill him,’ being tackled and struck, and then being confronted with another assailant wielding a knife in a menacing manner towards him,” Bowles wrote in a statement. “With multiple assailants attacking him with weapons, Mr. Baca at that point had no choice but to defend himself using force.”

A Virginia sheriff has apologized to a black pastor who was arrested earlier this month after he called 911 to report that a group of white people were trespassing on his property and taunting him with racial slurs.

The pastor, Leon K. McCray, 61, called the authorities during the confrontation, which began when he saw two people hauling a refrigerator to the dumpsters at the apartment building he owns in Edinburg, Va., on June 1.

Since the Supreme Court sidestepped making a significant decision in a much-watched Second Amendment case from New York in April, all eyes shifted to 10 other gun cases that the justices were considering. Many gun advocates hoped — and gun control supporters feared — the justices would take one of those cases in order to expand the right to keep and bear arms. But the justices turned down all 10 cases on Monday. To grasp the significance of that outcome, we need to rewind to 2008, when the Court upended generations of federal case law.

Most shooters know the difference between the Sight Alignment and Sight Picture concepts. Both are very important for aiming and getting hits on target using iron sights. And you should know which Sight Picture Hold works for you and your gun’s iron sights. There are some significant differences between getting your front and rear sights lined up vertically and horizontally (Sight Alignment) and placing those aligned sights on target (Sight Picture.) Note that Sight Alignment procedure remains the same, but the Sight Picture changes from gun-to-gun and from one distance to another.

From the moment Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, said in a prepared statement following the Supreme Court’s rejection of ten pending gun rights cases, that responsibility for this high court two-step “falls squarely at the feet of Chief Justice John Roberts,” the question that must be answered is this:

“Is the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court afraid of restoring the Second Amendment to apply equally to all citizens?” It is beginning to appear that way.

The NRA Foundation will be running their 2020 Father’s Day Online Auction, featuring 50 firearms, through June 22. The money raised through it will benefit a number of programs and is crucial in the fight this November, as freedom will be on the ballot.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, for example, has made no secret of his desire to lead a crusade against the Second Amendment and events like this allow the NRA to continue its fight against anti-gun politicians seeking to curtail your constitutional rights.

“The purported rationale for the ban was to protect the Capitol building from damage and to protect staff, legislators and visitors from any safety hazards caused by signs or sticks,” a statement from Hope’s office said.

“Carrying a sign into the Capitol is protected by our First Amendment right to free speech,” Hope said. “By allowing guns in the Capitol and not signs, we are sending a message to the people of Michigan that we respect one Constitutional right more than others.

For years we have sat silently as those in power have worked tirelessly to erode our Second Amendment rights. Often acting under the guise of safety and security, those in power have escalated their attacks on the Second Amendment in response to mass shootings, claiming they want a greater level of safety and security for Americans. This, despite historical evidence that makes clear connections between a disarmed people and an oppressed people. Ben Franklin once wrote, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

So why did the court refuse to hear any cases? “It wasn’t for want of a good case,” Adam Winkler, a law professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, and author of a book on the long history of contention over gun rights in the U.S., wrote on Twitter. “These 10 presented the justices with all the major open questions on the scope of the (Second Amendment).”

A lawsuit against New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham over COVID-19 orders that shuttered firearm retailers has been dismissed after the restrictions were lifted.

The conservative-leaning Mountain States Legal Foundation (MSLF) and Second Amendment rights groups sued the governor in federal court in April because the state's COVID-19 order that closed some businesses included gun stores.

Lujan Grisham later revised the order to exclude licensed firearm retailers, allowing them to reopen with restrictions.

Even in—or especially in—times of trouble, it’s important to stop for a moment to look back, as hindsight shows us how far we’ve come and how clear our purpose is. This is such a time for America’s 1st Freedom. This magazine turns 20 years old this month. It began as The American Guardian in 1997, but was rebranded America’s 1st Freedom in June of 2000.

Congressional Candidate Chris Jacobs (NY-27) was given an A rating from the Gun Owners of America New York (GOANYS) following a vote by members at its recent meeting, and an A+ Rating from the Second Amendment Show.

“We do not hand out A ratings lightly to candidates," GOANYS Communications Director Bill Robinson said. "However, Chris Jacobs’ record of fighting against the unconstitutional SAFE Act and fighting for privacy rights of pistol permit holders as County Clerk, and his voting record against red flag laws and SAFE Act expansion made this decision very easy.

Sheriff Mike Lewis withdrew his Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution that was set to be heard by the Wicomico County Council on Tuesday. He told the council that given the current atmosphere with the widespread unrest over the death of African Americans at the hands of police this was not the time for such a resolution. Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush caught up with Lewis after his appearance before the council.
