Many of us can remember a time when the federal courts altogether ignored the Second Amendment and would not concede that it guaranteed any individual right whatsoever. That changed in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), when the Supreme Court unambiguously concluded that there is an individual right to “keep and bear arms,” and that this right is not established but protected by the Second Amendment. Subsequent cases have clarified and strengthened Second Amendment case law. In McDonald v. City of Chicago (2010), the Court held that the Second Amendment restrains not only the federal government, but also state and local governments. |

Two Tracers just released this tome: “New Jersey Just Lost Its Assault Weapons Ban. Here’s Why That Matters for the Rest of the Country.”
The story’s last line is bedeviling. It’s not a quote or taken from any report. It’s completely attributable to the story’s two anti-gun authors:
“If the Supreme Court strikes down assault weapons bans nationwide next year, states could try other strategies, including putting semiautomatic rifles behind a permitting process,” they actually wrote.
Can you actually imagine that?
The highest court in the country says you can legally possess ARs in every state and U.S. Territory, but then some blue state suddenly requires you to obtain a state permit—regardless of the Supreme Court decision? |

Wyoming needs principled lawmakers who will defend the Second Amendment without apology, oppose unconstitutional gun control, and preserve the Cowboy State’s proud tradition of individual liberty.
Gun owners cannot afford to elect politicians who campaign as conservatives but abandon their promises once they arrive in Cheyenne.

Initiative Petition 28, an animal rights measure that sought to criminalize hunting, fishing, ranching and pest control in Oregon, has failed to make the November ballot after state election officials say it failed two rounds of signature verification.
Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read’s office announced the disqualification late Friday afternoon.
The IP 28 campaign submitted 142,784 signatures on July 2. To qualify for the ballot, the petition needed 117,173 verified signatures. That would require 82% of the submitted signatures to be valid. On two rounds of testing, the Elections Division said, sample batches of signatures failed to meet that threshold. (WW reported the first failure on July 16.) |

Right off the rip, I want to say I love FliteControl. The eight-pellet, low-recoil variant of FliteControl is my go-to option for self-defense applications. As this writer has pointed out, the Left doesn't really intend to abolish prisons. What they plan to do is keep prisons open for their political and ideological opponents while letting criminals go free. They like criminals, need their votes and the chaos they create to keep a hold on power, and will say and do whatever it takes to achieve their goals of defunding the police and dismantling American society.
James Talarico is just the latest Democrat to jump on the "abolish prisons" bandwagon, calling prisons "violence." |

The documentary takes a look at two pivotal, historical events in California that have influenced the discussion over the Second Amendment, along with the regulation of guns and ammunition.
On May 2, 1967, the Black Panther Party came to the California State Capitol armed in protest of a bill eliminating open carry in California.

It’s not just school supplies Florida residents can save on. Soon, you will be able to buy outdoor products, including guns, tax-free.
The Florida Department of Revenue announced, starting September 1, there will be no tax on bait, camping gear and guns, through the end of the year.
The Hunting, Fishing and Camping Sales Tax Holiday will be the second of the year, the first focusing on school supplies and electronics.
According to Florida Retail Federation spokesperson Amanda Bevis, while these holidays cost the state government money, they’re good for consumers. |

Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri is pushing for a twin-track firearms agenda that would expand legal protections for law-abiding gun owners while imposing tougher penalties on firearm owners whose negligence leads to deadly crimes.
In a news release on Friday, Zubiri highlighted Senate Bill (SB) Nos. 1555 and 1897 as key measures aimed at promoting responsible gun ownership and strengthening public safety.
SB 1555 seeks to reinforce the right to self-defense by creating a legal presumption of unlawful aggression in cases of forced or illegal entry into a person’s home, vehicle or place of business. |

For years, state bans on assault rifles and large-capacity magazines had enjoyed an unbroken winning streak throughout the nation’s federal courts of appeals. That run came to a halt last Friday when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit struck down New Jersey’s bans on both, granting civilians a Second Amendment right to military-grade weaponry. Given the 3rd Circuit’s conservative tilt, this outcome was no surprise. But the margin of the vote split was stunning: The court, sitting en banc, ruled 10–5 against the Garden State’s laws, with Judge Arianna Freeman—a progressive appointee of President Joe Biden—writing the majority opinion. |

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon’s Civil Rights Division asked a federal judge Wednesday to block the Virgin Islands from enforcing its recently enacted ban on modern semiautomatic firearms.
The Virgin Islands has come under scrutiny over its firearms laws during the second Trump administration, with the DOJ initially filing suit against the Caribbean territory in December over its licensing scheme. Multiple pro-Second Amendment groups filed an amicus brief urging the Maryland Supreme Court to hear an appeal of a case involving a D.C. resident arrested for carrying a firearm in Maryland.

Because 18- to 20-year-olds cannot obtain a Louisiana permit, they are not eligible for the exemption. With more than 1,300 schools in the state, the resulting unmarked 1,000-foot buffers create a dense, overlapping web of “invisible gun-free zones” covering roads, thoroughfares, and large portions of daily travel routes, especially in cities. The plaintiffs argue it is nearly impossible for an 18- to 20-year-old to lawfully carry while traveling without the permit they are forbidden to hold.
Additionally, Louisiana provides civil immunity for justified use of force or self-defense to licensed carriers (La. R.S. § 9:2793.12(B)). Adults under 21 carrying under constitutional carry do not receive this protection. |

Democratic Connecticut Attorney General William Tong’s office is seeking free help to sue gun companies, according to a July 17 request for proposals — but the document has a weird criterion for picking out who he wants to work with.
The RFP from Tong’s office included some unusual requests, including asking firms to explain their efforts to promote “diversity,” listing “Workforce diversity, as evidence by the contractor’s current workforce diversity and its explanation of its current diversity and any plans or efforts it describes to improve or broaden its diversity” as one of its selection criteria. |

Authorities say a would-be burglar was shot while attempting to force his way into a Gastonia, North Carolina, home.
Gastonia Police said in a Wednesday Facebook post that 57-year-old Cedric Ford and his girlfriend, 47-year-old Sanja Stallings, claimed that Ford had been shot at an intersection in a July 12 911 call. However, technology quickly disproved the couple’s claims that Ford had been attacked in a drive-by shooting after an investigation led cops to a home at a different location. |

A new Colorado law requiring people who purchase firearms to undergo a state-approved firearms safety course is going into effect August 1, with new restrictions supporters say are designed to prevent mass shootings. Gun advocates say it will prevent law-abiding residents from getting weapons to protect themselves.
