Honolulu prosecutors said a 27-year-old Kalihi man who fatally stabbed his roommate Monday night was acting in self-defense and will not face a murder charge.
At about 8:22 p.m. Monday, the man was approached by his roommate, identified as 57-year-old Maria Bolter, who was holding a knife, according to a news release from the city Prosecuting Attorney’s office Wednesday night.
The woman made “stabbing gestures” toward the man who used a knife to defend himself, prosecutors said. |

Three of roughly 15 proposals received some amount of bipartisan support — increased penalties for falsely posing as law enforcement, funding an awareness campaign for the state’s new “Red Flag” law and funding for school resource officers.
No other gun control proposals from Democrats, including an assault weapons ban, a re-enactment of the state’s binary trigger ban, a requirement for serial numbers on guns, safe storage requirements and gun safety training, received bipartisan support. |

The solutions start with common sense, and a great reminder that citizenship is a participation sport.
"The right solution is aggressive policing, but also backing up social policing" Schlicter told KTRH, "Right now, Soros-based prosecutors, prosecutors paid for by leftists specifically target normal citizens acting in self defense."
As Democrats continue to side with chaos and criminals, it's time for conservatives to choose leaders at all levels that back their citizens.
"Public spaces belong to the public, not to mutants, not to weirdos, not to losers, and we need to stop catering to them" noted Schlicter, "This is all a choice, and I say we choose order." |

The White House did not immediately offer details on how the label could be applied.
While federal law enforcement includes combating domestic terrorism under its purview, the United States does not have a list of designated “domestic terrorist organisations.”
Trump threatened the move on Monday after senior White House official Stephen Miller vowed the administration would dismantle an alleged “vast domestic terror movement” that he linked to the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. |

About a year before, Zentz received a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma — skin cancer. Surgery left his face scarred, and doctors lined up dozens of radiation treatments. He struggled through the cancer without talking much about it, Evans remembers. But she sensed that the scars bothered him, and the gauntlet of radiation appointments “absolutely terrified him.”
Several minutes after calling 911, Evans walked out onto their second-story deck and looked down. She screamed. Larry’s body lay next to a retaining wall. He had shot himself in the right temple. |

Introduced in 2020, Federal’s Punch ammo line is tailored for civilian self-defense needs. The line features sealed primers for more reliable ignition and customized loads for bullet type and weight.
In the case of the 9mm Punch, the bullet is a 124-grain jacketed hollow-point projectile meant to run in a broad range of handgun designs and barrel lengths with predictable terminal performance on flesh targets.
This brass-cased ammo also falls into the reasonably priced category for the often burdensomely expensive self-defense ammo market. |

This week, my friend Charlie Kirk was murdered in cold blood in front of a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University. He was assassinated while debating with students — something Charlie did frequently, and with aplomb — by a radicalized leftist with a trans boyfriend. That assassin decided to kill Charlie because of Charlie’s belief that men cannot become women, and vice versa, as he allegedly wrote in a text message to that trans boyfriend, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence.” |

Where a man charged with violating 18 U.S.C. § 922(n) by transporting a firearm across state lines while he was under indictment for a felony challenged the charge on Second Amendment grounds, his challenge failed. This nation’s history and tradition of gun regulation shows that those accused of possessing unlawful weapons can be temporarily disarmed today. And the tradition of categorically disarming potentially dangerous groups separately justifies the charge. |

On the issue of the Second Amendment, Berrien said in August that he supports eliminating state permit requirements to carry guns in a concealed fashion, a policy known to supporters as constitutional carry.
Berrien told the Journal Sentinel that the law change would be "reinforcing Wisconsinites' constitutionally enshrined right to protect themselves and others."
"The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," he said.
Current law requires Wisconsin residents to undergo training to apply for a state permit to carry firearms in a concealed manner. |

Mattering least of all are the meaningless, hollow and cruel offerings of “thoughts and prayers” from political leaders who tout their five-star rating from the National Rifle Association for working to undermine gun-control laws that might have spared two injured students and the life of the student gunman, and lives lost every day to guns all over the nation.
The Evergreen shooting victims join the millions of other parents and children terrorized every day by the thought of being inside the next school, the next classroom, chosen by a shooter with a gun on a mission to kill. |

Within six months of the landmark 2022 United States Supreme Court decision of NYSRPA v. Bruen, Illinois disregarded the Court’s clear directives and enacted into law H.B. 5741, the Protect Illinois Communities Act. PICA banned certain semi-automatic rifles and other so-called “assault weapons,” “high capacity” magazines, and other devices, and required existing owners to register with the police as a condition of their continued lawful possession.
An NRA-backed lawsuit, Caleb Barnett et al. v. Kwame Raoul et al., was quickly filed in federal court to challenge the law as unconstitutional. |

I want to start this week’s column by validating your anxiety about the state of our country. The violence we see in the morning, noon, and night is not normal.
To date, America has seen 357 mass shootings in 2025 alone—a rate that exceeds one per day.
In the last two weeks alone, we witnessed a mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis that claimed the lives of two children and injured 21 others, and the violent murder of an influencer. Both incidents have spread like wildfire on social media platforms that have repeatedly failed to curb hate speech and violent rhetoric. |

A gun-rights organization is calling on the Supreme Court of the United States to hear the case involving California’s punitive firearm magazine capacity limit.
State law in the Golden State dictates that magazines cannot hold more than 10 rounds. And the case Duncan v. Bonta, which challenges that law restriction, was upheld this spring by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled that magazines are simply “accessories,” not “arms.”
On September 12, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court, urging the court to grant certiorari in the case. Joining the SAF in the filing were the Second Amendment Law Center and Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. |

The Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier, confirmed that the open carry of firearms in public spaces is now legal in the state, following a ruling by the First District Court of Appeal (1st DCA) in the case McDaniels v. State.
The ruling, which is binding on all lower courts, asserts that the prohibition in place until now was incompatible with the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, according to EFE.
Uthmeier posted on the social media platform X that, with no other appeals court questioning the constitutionality of the rule following the precedent set by the Bruen case in the Supreme Court, the ruling of the 1st DCA becomes state law. |

The Minnesota Legislature appears light years away from passing stricter gun laws.
On Wednesday, five Republicans on a Senate Gun Violence Prevention Working Group made clear that they do not want to work with DFL lawmakers on gun legislation.
Republicans faulted each of the DFL’s proposals as in violation of the Second Amendment, or raised hypotheticals to demonstrate the bills were impractical. |

Today, State Rep. Robert Leadbeter (R-Columbia) announced he has introduced legislation to prohibit Red Flag laws in Pennsylvania.
“One of the greatest potential abuses inflicted on Pennsylvania gun owners comes under the guise of ‘Red Flag’ gun confiscation,” said Leadbeter. “Not only do these laws blatantly violate the Second Amendment, but they also infringe on the 14th Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, as it reads no state shall ‘deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.’”
As of now, there are no Red Flag laws — a.k.a an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) law — in Pennsylvania. |

Following shootings involving people who had serious mental health issues including in Minnesota, Colorado, Utah, and elsewhere, increased calls for so-called “Red Flag laws” have been heard nationwide.
As this call grows louder, one Pennsylvania State Rep wants to cut off that type of legislation at the pass. Rep. Robert Leadbeter has since introduced legislation to prohibit Red Flag laws in Pennsylvania. These laws, which he says “are being pushed by the radical left wing, allow courts to confiscate firearms based on allegations of potential harm, often without due process, and could be subject to abuse if implemented in the Commonwealth.” |

Gov. Ron DeSantis has made no qualms about his beliefs: Floridians should have the right to carry firearms in public. He’s also lobbied to lower the age to purchase rifles from 21 to 18 and created a firearms sales tax holiday to ease costs for gunslingers.
After a back-and-forth battle between the Republican governor and the Republican-led legislature, Florida will now allow open carry.
On Sept. 10, the state’s First District Court of Appeal struck down the longtime ban on open carry in the McDaniels v. State case. Stanley McDaniels challenged the Florida statute, which does not allow open carry, saying it violates his Second Amendment right. The trial court dismissed his case. Then, the court of appeal reversed the decision. |

The Antithesis is chambered in .45 Colt and .410 bore and can fire both slugs and shotshells. Future models will include 5.56 NATO variants with 7.5- to 12.5-inch rifled barrels — and yes, you can run a stock and even a vertical foregrip without falling afoul of the NFA.
Franklin Armory refers to the platform as the “Short-Barreled Franklin” (SBF™) and describes it as a firearm “designed and intended to fire both single and multiple projectile ammunition.” By virtue of its design, the Antithesis falls outside the federal definition of “rifle,” which requires a shoulder-fired firearm to fire only a single projectile per pull of the trigger. |

Constitution Week is observed annually from Sept. 17-23 and is something that should not pass under our radar. This commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787 when delegates at the Philadelphia Convention signed the document that created our form of government.
The Founding Fathers understood the necessity of basing the Constitution on biblical principles. Those involved in framing the Constitution were quick to point out that this was to be a Christian nation and that the principles of religion were of paramount interest. |
