The suspect in the case was dropped off around the same time, and approached the victim by lifting his shirt to expose a gun and demanded he fork over any valuables.

The victim, however, was also armed and pulled out his weapon and shot the suspect in the face. The suspect is in the hospital and in police custody.

Additionally, no charges are expected to be brought against the victim, as he was defending himself.

Submitter's note: This is the only thing that stops crime. The criminals don't fear the police or the criminal justice system because they get off with a slap on the wrist.

The Cass County State's Attorney’s Office told The Forum on Thursday, Sept. 9, it would not prosecute Joseph A. Larson, who shot at a vehicle driving toward him on his property. The office said the then-59-year-old was acting in self-defense.

On Thursday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement regarding the withdrawal of David Chipman’s nomination to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF):

President Biden should have never nominated anti-gun David Chipman for ATF Director, and I'm pleased to see reports that his nomination will be withdrawn. His confirmation would have jeopardized the constitutional rights of every legal firearm owner in America, and his anti-Second Amendment beliefs make him completely unfit to serve in any kind of leadership position anywhere in this administration.

It has become a cliche. The deceased is always a saint, always a wonderful father.

As this author noted before, there are extremely dangerous people among us. They disguise themselves to look “ordinary”. It makes their life easier. Many people who know them never see the rapacious interior until after they are victimized.

The Sheriff’s Department investigated Travis Draper’s death. They found the shooting was in self-defense. There was a protest.

David Chipman's nomination to serve as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives had been languishing for months in the Senate, where Democrats knew he lacked the votes within their own party to win confirmation.

Finally, this past week, the Biden administration pulled the plug on Chipman. Now, the president will have to come up with a new nominee who can defy the odds and win Senate approval to head one of the most divisive agencies in the federal government.

"To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to disarm them." Those words were written by George Mason who wrote Virginia's constitution, which was an inspiration for the Declaration of Independence (from Webster's Encyclopedia).

Local, seemingly fanatical, anti-gun "activists" favor taking legally owned firearms from the law-abiding. Their attacks on our gun rights need no introduction.

In a series of vitriolic, acerbic and sarcastic letters, replete with wild-eyed claims and repetitive, broken-record statements ("ban AR-15s, ban AR-15s, ban AR-15s, ban AR-15s"), gun control propagandists demand that modern sporting rifles, like the AR-15, be banned.

Deputies in Alabama booked Michael Amacker and Tracy Reeves into jail after the woman’s husband, Frank Reeves, exchanged gunfire with Amacker.

The scene began when Tracy called Frank to alert her of an intruder in her home, police later discovering she was high on methamphetamine when she made the call. Investigators also found out the wife and Amacker were in a relationship for over a year, allowing him to live in the home unbeknownst to the husband.

The husband armed himself as he went back into the home, shooting at the then-apparent intruder, Amacker, who was also armed with a firearm.

Flexible rifle armor has long been the aim for manufacturers, with the infamous Dragon Skin™ brand being an example of a company that tried but failed to deliver this type of product. As word of this innovative new product sweeps the United States, demand has far surpassed the projections of the company, which is helping to sustain and increase the rapid growth of their business.

The penalty portion of the law was the focus of a legal challenge filed by a handful of local governments after the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting that left 17 dead. A trial court sided with the local governments and scrapped the penalty language, a decision that was overturned on appeal. The conflicting rulings led Fried in July to ask the Florida Supreme Court to take up the case..

On Thursday, without explanation, the Florida Supreme Court agreed to consider the case, with Justices Ricky Polston, Jorge Labarga, Alan Lawson, and John Couriel concurring with the decision, while Chief Justice Charles Canady, along with Justices Carlos Muñiz and Jamie Grosshans dissented.

Gun advocates say in a new federal lawsuit that D.C.’s prohibition of “ghost guns” and restrictions on the manufacturing of guns from kits are unconstitutional infringements on the Second Amendment.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by three gun-owning residents. The plaintiffs include Dick Heller, whose challenge of the city’s longstanding handgun ban almost two decades ago led to the Supreme Court’s landmark 2008 decision affirming that the Second Amendment confers an individual right to own a gun.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to review a lower court ruling that, if left intact, inappropriately permits federal regulators to outlaw a popular firearm accessory and potentially imprison those who fail to comply with the new mandate.

The attorney general led a 20-state coalition Friday. Its brief argues the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was afforded too much deference in using the regulatory process to criminalize the possession of bump stocks — a longtime legal accessory for semiautomatic rifles designed for those with limited hand mobility.

“Because the police are given kind of a wide array of power to do their job, that’s a tough play,” Colorado defense attorney Kevin Cahill said. “That line between saying, ‘Hey, I'm defending myself,’ and ‘I'm resisting arrest,’ is very gray.”

According to Cahill, claiming self-defense against law enforcement would force someone to overcome two already difficult burdens of proof at once: justifying their use of force was reasonable and proving that the officer in question was overstepping the responsibilities of the job or doing something illegal when he put someone’s life in danger.

Proving both can be damn near impossible in a court of law.

With gun violence on the rise across the area, more people are taking a shot at trying to find ways to protect themselves.

There’s been a significant increase in the number of people preparing to protect themselves and their property. That, combined with COVID, is creating a huge hurdle in Mecklenburg County when it comes to granting gun permits to people seeking protection.

“We are starting to see more gun violence for ridiculous reasons,” said Shooters Express Chief Instructor Anthony Trivette.

It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. That’s the consensus right now when it comes to concealed carry.
