Lead Flat Nose Ammo: LFN Bullets Explained

The popularity of the lead flat nose is hard to beat if you’re looking for a great match shooting round or a general target shooting bullet type. The flat nose makes it easier to see exactly where your bullet penetrated a paper target, which makes for much easier scoring, as the hole is cleaner with less radial tearing. Flat-nosed ammunition tends to have a lighter load of powder, so they don’t often give you the same velocity as their lead round nose bullet cousins.

While most often used for target shooting, this type of ammunition can be created for various special uses as well. And some people use it in their home defense revolvers due to greater expansion than round nose bullets, which gives it a little extra stopping power.

MI: In response to call for ban on ‘weapons of war’

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right …”

Actually, I’ll keep this simple without quoting the full Second Amendment or going into actual statistics on gun violence.

Kenneth’s solution is to simply just take away all of the “weapons of war” to end the mass killings. So, if someone drives through a crowd of people with a bus and kills dozens, do we blame the bus or the person? Do we simply say, “Man, those high-capacity vehicles are way too big and dangerous to allow people to drive anymore. Let’s take them all away.” Sounds ridiculous, right?

Or do we blame the person, who clearly has issues, and punish the individual?

Around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, scouts were dispatched to a local hospital on a "Shooting/Cutting RPT" call. Officers arrived and spoke to the 31-year-old victim, who said he shot himself at his home and then later at a bar on the 7000 block of W. Warren where he was dee-jaying.

Police say the victim sustained one gunshot wound to the thigh and was privately taken to a nearby hospital.

A former Marine who said at a protest that he would “slaughter” Antifa members in self-defense, if attacked, recently had his five weapons confiscated by the FBI, according to reports.

The temporary seizure came through the use of Oregon’s “red flag” law, which allows law enforcement agencies and family members to seek a court order to have weapons taken away from an individual viewed as potentially violent. Such laws are often opposed by supporters of Second Amendment gun rights.

In a scathing letter to the clerk of the U.S. Supreme Court, signed by every member of the U.S. Senate’s Republican Majority, five Senate Democrats were blasted for filing an amicus brief with the high court that essentially threatened to pack the court if it does not dismiss a case challenging an extremist New York City gun control ordinance, as reported by the Washington Post.

In their brief, the five Democrats—Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (RI), Mazie Hirono (HI), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Dick Durbin (IL) and Richard Blumenthal (CT)—stated, “The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it.

The Texas Tribune reports the changes mean “landlords won’t be able to prevent tenants or their guests from carrying a firearm.” The changes also mean concealed carry license holders who are church-goers will be able to carry their guns with them for self-defense.

The effort to allow congregants to be armed came in response to the November 5, 2017, shooting of Sutherland Springs churchgoers.

A team of licensed hunters is set to start shooting as many Canada geese as they can round up early Tuesday morning at the Quechee Club’s Lakeland golf course. And the culling could continue through the end of Vermont’s goose-hunting season on Sept. 25, if many more than 30 of the resident gaggle survive and resume their occupation of the course’s man-made waterways and the Ottauquechee River, members of the club and the Quechee Lakes Landowners Association learned last week.

My adventure started at the Great American Outdoor Show. I didn’t plan to book a hunt, but was led to Mike “Buck” Bowden, master guide and owner of Hidden Alaska by my friend Ed Laidlaw and Ed’s dad, Don. Buck had a 2018 Dall sheep hunt opening. I was saving for years to go on a moose hunt, but this was a great opportunity. I spoke to Buck, and he said this specific sheep hunt was also during grizzly season. I was intrigued to say the least, but still felt it was a dream out of reach—I was concerned about the money.

Gun buyback programs, such as a one being proposed by the San Antonio City Council, aren’t the answer to America’s — or even San Antonio’s — gun problem. Whether we admit it or not, we have a gun problem. Never mind the political rhetoric, just focus on the body count. According to Gun Violence Archive, a D.C.-based not-for-profit group that fact-checks and logs information on gun-related violence, we’re up to 9,721 deaths nationwide as of early last week, not including suicides.

The ability to shoot a firearm accurately and dependably is the result of a number of different factors coming together at one time. Most shooters are aware of the basic skills involved in the proper usage of a firearm, whether it’s a handgun, rifle or shotgun. Sight picture, trigger squeeze and proper grip are all essential elements of proper shooting.

Can Democracy Survive without Nationalism?

In modern English, nationalism has become a dirty word. It is lumped together with racism, xenophobia, chauvinism, and intolerance. To accuse someone of harboring nationalistic views is a formula for exclusion. Few scholars can survive carrying such charges in their professional luggage. Accusations of nationalism are directed at politicians as well, with predictable results. In academia and the press, attempts to discredit and condemn nationalism are numerous. A recent example is "An Open Letter Against the New Nationalism" published August 19, 2019 in the Commonweal magazine.

Bob Mokos is a passionate gun owner who on the surface would seem like a card-carrying National Rifle Association member. The retired airline pilot has been shooting guns since he was a child. The Vietnam veteran got more serious about firearms as a civilian after one of his sisters was fatally shot during a mugging in Chicago. After the 9/11 terror attacks, he became qualified to carry a gun in the cockpit.

Fascist group routinely commits acts of violence.

In response, a citizen announces that he will defend himself against such violence as allowed by US Constitution, Oregon Constitution, Oregon Law, and natural law, using firearms against any mob (which is a deadly force in and of itself) that may attack him.

Someone (members of said fascist group?) reports such (First Amendment protected) speech to authorities.

Local authorities and federal authorities raid citizen's home and steal his firearms, knowing full well that the citizen will incur costs well beyond the value of said firearms to recover them, as well as his unconstitutionally abrogated Rights.

This is the USA of today... what will it be tomorrow?

It is impossible for the Political and Social Conservative, on the one hand, and the illiberal, Radical New Progressive Leftist on the other hand to come to a mutually acceptable agreement on any public policy issue. Most notably, on civilian possession of firearms. Because, on a very basic, almost subliminal level, the two sides happen to view the human being in a completely different light and to view the relationship of the human being to society and to Government in a completely different light.
