"The end of the year has arrived, and with it, the time to make New Year's resolutions. Being far less, er . . . resolute than National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea, I will not cover nearly as much ground as he did last year, but I will offer this one resolution: become a 'Militia of One.' (The Army has moved on from its 'Army of One' recruiting slogan, so I figured they wouldn't mind my adaptation.)
"What do I mean by that, though? ..." ... |

"Mainstream media outlets rarely address gun ownership in a positive way, but a new USA Today poll actually asks what readers believe the Second Amendment means, the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance announced today." ... -------
Submitter's Note: I really wanted to vote 'No', because the question asks if the Second *gives* Americans a right. As any journalist should know the Bill of Rights does not give any rights, it protects pre-existing individual civil and human rights. |

"It’s been a few days since I’ve posted anything here on TTAG. My apologies, my daughter was in town, and my 12-year-old offspring is a force of nature, and not to be denied when she in for the holidays. But all good things must eventually come to an end (all too soon, if you ask me) and so we made our pilgrimage to Love Field to put her on a plane to Amarillo. But before that, we’d planned to come over a day early to see friends, let her get in a little shopping at her own version of Mecca (Sam Moon Importers, if you must know), and attend a party billed as 'Pistols and Pizza,' where a bunch of friends go to a gun range and shoot holes in pieces of paper, then indulge in some really good pizza ..." ... |

... "The American judicial system is filled with liberal, politically correct and touchy-feely judges. The real crimes here are against the American public. Police officers are killed by people who should already be dead. Young girls are repeatedly molested and raped and no one notices. Teenagers are let off from obvious assault charges with: “Don’t let me catch you doing anything like that again young man!” I believe it is time for me to exercise my Constitutional right under the Second Amendment to purchase a nice big gun to protect me. The American judicial and punishment system just isn’t doing the job." -------

"Last night, I was browsing through Kennesaw Patch when I came across an article entitled 'Don't Shoot: A Criticism of Kennesaw's Gun Laws' by our esteemed columnist, Mr. James Swift."
"I knew right away I was going to take issue with the article because Mr. Swift stands much further to the Left in politics than I do. I am a journalist, however, and I try my darndest to examine both sides of any argument, so I gritted my teeth and resolved to read it all the way through." ... |

... "The Constitution is not confusing -- Ezra Klein is confusing. The ‘issue of the Constitution’ is not that the language is confusing; it’s that people like Klein are so readily willing to disregard the parts of the U.S. Rulebook that they don’t like (like the Second Amendment) and make up parts to suit their own purposes (like the ‘right to privacy’). The issue is that there are people that believe that the Constitution is a binding document, an agreement among a nation of people that broke from tyranny and decided to give self-government a try, and other people that believe it’s a living, breathing document open to reinterpretation whenever the wind shifts direction." ... |

"'House Republican leaders want to lift a ban on guns and other dangerous weapons in the New Hampshire Statehouse complex put in place last year by Democrat,' boston.com reports. After that killer opening (so to speak), reporter Norma Love chronicles the legislative wrangling between the gun rights right and the all-guns-left-behind left. Which is to say the article devolves into the kind of deadly dull journalism charting the changes at your School Board (aside from the Florida shoot-out). Mercifully, Love ends her piece by presenting the pros and cons of the matter, giving the prize position to . . ." ... |

"The Columbus Dispatch reported recently that Governor-elect John Kasich has appointed Maj. John Born to serve as the next superintendent of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP)."
