The 7.62x39 mm shooter should consider handloading to ensure a steady supply of accurate, high-performance loads and to achieve shot-to-shot consistency. Best results can be expected when bullets are selected that properly match the bore dimensions. The unassuming 7.62x39 mm (M43) cartridge is likely more popular today than ever. Technological advancements in components and the introduction of high-quality firearms chambered for the cartridge during the past few years alone have renewed interest in the Soviet stalwart. As such, it’s prudent to revisit it

Shaneen Allen’s rise from single Philadelphia mom to global gun rights icon has the elements of a John Grisham thriller: violent crime, race, and the power of the state over the individual. An African-American, Ms. Allen was arrested in 2012 after a traffic stop in New Jersey. She faced up to five years in prison under New Jersey law – not for lacking a concealed-carry permit for her firearm, but for having the wrong one. |

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Tuesday rolled out the first legislative initiative of his last year in office: A ban on the bump-stock accessories that enabled the Las Vegas shooter to convert a dozen semi-automatic rifles into machine guns he used in an assault that killed 58 and wounded 500 in 11 minutes. Malloy, 62, a Democrat winding down two terms in office as one of the most unpopular incumbent governors in the U.S., said neither his lame-duck status nor Connecticut’s continuing budget issues would limit his agenda for the three-month General Assembly session that opens Feb. 7. |

Federal Premium Ammunition has announced a new personal-defense option, the Hydra-Shok Deep, which provides up to 50 percent deeper penetration than original Hydra-Shok. Original Hydra-Shok has been a self-defense staple since its creation in 1989 in response to the FBI’s request for a projectile with better terminal ballistics than traditional cup-and-core bullets. The Hydra-Shok bullet’s notched jacket, non-bonded lead core and unique center-post hollow-point design produced better penetration and more consistent threat-stopping expansion than other bullets at the time. |

Three organizations including the Second Amendment Foundation, the Calguns Foundation and California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees filed the petition to be heard by the Supreme Court Monday. The request follows the decision of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals last year, which upheld Alameda County’s decision back in 2012. |

George H. W. Bush gave up power quietly and turned to charity work and occasional ceremonial speaking after his reelection defeat in 1992. George W. Bush — like Jerry Ford in 1977 and Ronald Reagan in 1989 — did the same when Barack Obama assumed power in 2009. |

Most of those who spoke at a public hearing Monday night in Cody told the Park County District #6 school board that they did not support a proposal to allow armed personnel in public schools. Two-thirds of those testifying said that guns should be the last, not first security measure. Instead, money should go into introducing smarter security technologies in school buildings. Yetzi Daren Jobaner said even in Wyoming there are places guns don't belong.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has been handling a surge of concealed handgun license applications and renewals — a trend driven by local population growth and more people buying guns in the wake of mass shootings across the nation, officials said. The Sheriff’s Office processed 3,030 license applications and renewals in 2014. Numbers rose to 3,220 in 2015, jumped to 4,364 in 2016 and climbed to 4,813 in 2017, according to statistics provided by sheriff’s Sgt. Dace Cochran.

A gun law passed by the General Assembly in 2014 has caused DeKalb County’s security costs to jump roughly 73 percent, according to Police Chief James Conroy. He said the county spent roughly $600,000 more on security costs in 2017 compared to three years prior, mainly because it needs more armed guards patrolling public spaces. The 2014 measure, which Gov. Nathan Deal signed into law, allows concealed weapon permit holders to carry their guns inside most government facilities.

One would think that with the Right virtually controlling all levers of government, gun grabber demands to chip away at our common sense civil rights would be met with admonitions that they go play in the traffic. But alas, RINOs being RINOs they knuckled under to these demands and passed off this issue to unelected bureaucrats and the intended consequences of the slippery slope.

Another firearm crime, another call for more gun laws—laws that would do nothing to reduce crime but would make it more difficult for law-abiding people to acquire guns for sport or defense. This time, one mainstream media outlet actually made that point. Paul Muschick, a reporter for The Morning Call, isn’t always on the right side of the gun debate, but in a recent “The Watchdog” column, he brought a key argument to light.

A San Diego man arrested for firing shots at trees and neighborhood animals while under the influence has been ordered to surrender his guns for a year. This case marks the city's first long-term Gun Violence Restraining Order, announced the City Attorney's Office Monday. Shawn Michael Erler of the San Carlos community had a blood alcohol content of .255 -- nearly three times the legal limit -- and was on prescription medication when the shooting unfolded on Dec. 11. When police arrested Erler, he told them he was shooting at rats and raccoons.
