The spin doctors working for anti-gun lobbyists shifted into overdrive recently -- trying to portray a resounding legal setback for their agenda as a victory.
Last October, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled in U.S. v. Emerson that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees individuals the right to "possess and bear their own firearms...that are suitable as personal, individual weapons."
This finding is not earthshaking to most people. |

"unlike citizens of many countries who are fighting for freedom, justice or God...We have nothing better to do with our time.
But handguns are inanimate objects.
Eliminating the rights that were given to every law-abiding citizen by our Founding Fathers would...only bring a fool's security, never touching the actual problem." |

FORT WORTH - Relatives of a man fatally shot by a security guard more than two years ago are appealing a judge's decision to throw out their wrongful-death lawsuit.
Under department policy, police officers can use deadly force if they believe their lives or the lives of others are in imminent danger.
"An officer's right to use deadly force doesn't exist forever," Subar said. "When Mr. Bearden was wounded and clearly not a threat, officer Humphrey can't fire his weapon again." |

Could state governors order the collection of all data and records on citizens, ban firearms, take control of private property and quarantine entire cities? The answer is yes – if governors and state legislatures adopted a new "model" bill currently under consideration.
"In the event of a declared public health emergency, MSEHP grants the governor extraordinary powers," HSLDA analysts said. "These powers include...the prohibition of firearms (Section 402(c))..." |

LONDON — In a country where most police are armed with little more than batons and the closest many people get to crime is a TV drama, criminals with guns have been seen as the kind of problem that afflicts other nations.
But a surge of murders, robberies and assaults involving guns in London, including the mugging of a teenage girl who was shot in the head for a mobile phone, has shaken Britain's traditional attitude that guns are other peoples' problems. |

The liberal, comically ideological "student, grassroots" Gun Industry Watch has requested the FTC to investigate gun manufacturers' and retailers' websites. The GIW insists these businesses violate the law "any time they claim that the purchase of firearms will help protect consumers, when scientific data indicates that a gun in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in a suicide, accidental shooting, or homicide than in self-defense."

"I really used to enjoy flying. But not any longer. Why?
Because young girls are being frisked and having to lower their pants in public by sleazy security screeners.
Because documented lying and cover-ups by the federal government in previous air disasters – especially TWA Flight 800 – and other terrorist incidents have continued unabated.
Because passengers and pilots are unable to carry firearms for protection." --Tom Ambrose |

"I shoot. A lot. I have, off and on, for decades. When I'm not shooting, or working, I'm cleaning up from shooting or getting ready to shoot. When I'm not practicing with my M1A, I practice with a .45. Sometimes just for variety I practice with a knife. What little money I have left after taxes, bills and child support, I spend on food and books and reloading stuff and surplus rifle ammo. Rarely in that order..." |
