Second Letter
"Mandates for built-in safety locks have forced some manufacturers to pull their products from Maryland gun stores. Ballistic fingerprinting, an unproven method of tracking guns used in crimes, has had a similar effect. The end result is that the price of guns has skyrocketed, making self-defense more costly. Of course, this is not a problem for criminals. The best friend that a criminal has is a socialist, liberal, gun-grabbing Maryland Democrat." |

"What we have is a mindset on the part of government that it can do anything that it wants to as long as it says that it is doing so in the name of security. That's why we are having this problem, for example, with the Total Information Awareness. ...There is nothing in the Homeland Security authorization that allows that; it was not considered by Congress. But [Rear] Adm. John Poindexter and the DoD (Department of Defense) folks think that basically they can just do it." ... |

"It could take as long as two years for the FBI to respond fully to the ACLU request, Julie Miller, a spokeswoman in the FBI's Washington headquarters, said this week."
" 'It depends on how long it takes to find the records,' explained Linda Colton, public information officer for Freedom of Information Act requests in Washington.
" 'Once the records are found, then they have to process them and they may be exempt for various reasons,' Colton said."

"So … my character flaw? I love the fact that one predator is dead. Good. He has been removed from society and will never threaten anyone again. The world is better off today without this jerk using perfectly good oxygen molecules. I hope he remained conscious long enough to lay there in a pool of his own blood thinking about things might have turned out for him if he had actually worked for his money. I rejoice at the suffering of the predator currently in the hospital. I hope he is propped up in that hospital bed in wrenching pain thinking “Man, here I am all shot up. I may die. I really screwed up and even if I make it out of here I’m going to jail.” And I am thrilled that predator number three is in jail facing a murder charge over the death of his partner in crime. He’ll have a long time to think about what a loser he is." |

More Brady rhetoric disguised as news. "Please store your gun completely dismantled into little pieces all over your house, with bullets stored separately, so that when a home invader threatens your life and that of your family, you can ask him nicely to wait while you hunt around your house for pieces of your gun."
But for God's sake, don't teach your children gun safety! Use trigger locks and don't take responsibility by never leaving your child unsupervised with a gun in the house! |

Such a proposal is part of the gun control policy debate. But, politics aside, we wondered how technically difficult such a project would be, given potentially millions of gun records."
