... "That makes it all the more difficult to understand why, after spending untold dollars funding 'a team of no less than 10 government attorneys' in a time of supposed fiscal crisis, ATF once more finds itself trying to exploit Dobyn’s achievement as something they share credit in, even if it means undercutting its efforts to keep that achievement from succeeding."

"'ATF is again promoting my book and putting it on display within the walls of the ATF Headquarters building in Washington, D.C.,' Dobyns explained, providing the photos accompanying this column to prove it. 'It is being used to promote ATF's achievements on a wall labeled 'ATF Authors'.'" ...

"Another year is unfolding with state legislatures and Congress back in action, and there is no doubt that anti-gun lawmakers – virtually all of them Democrats – will once again push proposals designed to erode the Second Amendment, all in the effort to 'get guns off the streets.'"

"Here is a piece of advice for the 'party of gun control,' the nickname by which Democrats have come to be known."

"If you’re concerned about the number of firearms in the hands of an increasing number of law-abiding citizens, stop promoting legislation that smacks of regulation, registration or outright bans. If that’s not clear enough, to 'get guns off the street' you must first take them off the table." ...

"Within the new Obamacare law is a provision that critics say places their doctors, nurses, and hospitals in the role of arbiters in the push for more gun control. A previous Examiner report exposed that fact."

"But many doctors are fighting back. They don't want to be gun control arbiters. They do not see such a thing as being part of their role as medical care providers. And even if they were forced into such a role, they see themselves as ill-equipped to make such decisions." ...

"The Blaze carried a story devoted to Mayor Bloomberg’s intermingling of his private passion for infringing on the second amendment with his use of public funds to do so."

"Among the comments was this insightful reply from nzkiwi:"
"While we all believed that there were underhanded machinations afoot, it is never-the-less surprising to see clear proof."
"American gun owners should take considerable satisfaction that the law of unintended consequences came to their aid, however."

"Determined efforts to increase gun control by President Obama, supported by Mayor Bloomberg and others, caused such alarm in your nation that there are now more gun owners in America than at any time in your country’s history." ...

"When I reviewed the Bradley Cheek Rest, I liked it. It was a simple and effective solution for my one major complaint about modern rifle design, and it performed its job well. The only thing missing was the ability to adjust the height of the cheek piece, since the rest was fixed in place. Now, Bradley has come out with a new cheek rest that can be adjusted to the user’s preference." ...

"One of the gun haters' fondest fantasies is a mandate for "smart guns," designed to be impossible to fire except by the authorized user. Various Gun Rights Examiners have discussed this technology--and the threat its mandatory use represents--fairly often, including just over a week ago."

"As we have also discussed, though, there is another kind of 'smart gun'--a rifle so 'smart' it can hardly miss (assuming the technology performs as advertised, an admittedly huge assumption)--that the forcible citizen disarmament jihadists are not nearly as enthusiastic about. ..." ...

... "All rights are regulated, [Metcalf] noted. 'You cannot falsely and deliberately yell fire in a crowded theater,' despite the First Amendment. The Second Amendment is no different."

"The people who make the guns and ammo, the advertisers in the magazine for which Metcalf worked, did not see it that way. They saw Metcalf as a person to be shunned. He lost his TV show; he lost his reviewing gigs. His career is shot, all for stating some blindingly obvious truths."

Submitter's Note: There is another 'blindingly obvious truth' that antis like Jon just can't seem to wrap their heads around, and that is the difference between true grass roots efforts and AstroTurf® activism. They see our reaction to Dick Metcalf's column or Jim Zumbo's blog entry and think that the Ee-vil Gun Lobby must be behind it. They are utterly unable to recognize true grass-roots activity because it doesn't exist in the anti-gun 'movement'.

This year’s new offering is the AR-31, a scaled down version of their AR-50 rifle that uses the same detachable magazines that work in their semi-auto AR-10 rifles. It feels great and works great, except for the trigger. It still feels square and slightly sharp, just like on the AR-30 rifle introduced last year, and the AR-50 before that. "Without a statewide database for law enforcement to check, it wasn’t unheard of to find someone convicted of a felony and arrested on another charge still holding on to their out-of-county pistol permit and their handguns."

"For those who feel the need to carry a gun, please conceal it. The current open carry advocates are doing more harm than good and for the most part their acts of protest are counterproductive. "... The truth is guns in the open even make me nervous. If I saw a person walking down the street swinging an AK-47 or had a gun strapped to their hip, my first thought is not 'there goes a lover of the second amendment.' Instead my first thought is OK is this a nut? ..." ...

The group gathered to hear remarks from Wayne Hoffman and Alexandria Kinkaid along with Pruett, then moved inside to talk with legislators." ...
