A firearms sale in which two men planned to rob the seller resulted in one of the men being shot dead, North Pole police said Thursday.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress near 301 N. Santa Claus Lane late Wednesday night, the North Pole Police Department said in a statement. Police were told that one person had been shot while another was being held at gunpoint, and when they arrived at the scene, officers detained several people in the parking lot.
Investigators determined Adam Dane Selid, 18, and Dalen Davis, 19, had arranged to meet an individual to buy firearms from them but actually planned to rob the seller during the transaction, police said.

A group of defense attorneys are pushing Detroit police to make traffic stop data public. Although the current police chief has not been in charge since the beginning of the period where arrests spiked, he says his officers have not done anything wrong.
"If you illegally carry a gun in our community, we’re going to arrest you," said Detroit Police Chief James White. "We’re unapologetic about that."
White sounded off responding to the drastic uptick in CCW arrests since the start of the pandemic and the pushback the department is receiving from community members and defense attorneys.
"We believe this is an unjust practice that is destroying the lives of Black Detroiters and it must stop," said Chanta Parker, |

Federal has introduced a new cartridge that has been specifically designed for those who carry a concealed pistol for personal protection. They’re calling it the 30 Super Carry. From an external and terminal ballistics standpoint, the 30 Super Carry will run right with the 9mm, but offers some advantages. It generates between 10 and 20 percent less recoil, for one thing. And maybe more importantly, given magazines of the same size, it offers a higher capacity than the .380 Auto or 9mm Luger. How did Federal achieve this? They borrowed from what they learned in 2008 while developing the .327 Federal Magnum. |

Vullo said the coverage extends to individuals who were found to have used a gun with criminal intent, however, and the state opened an investigation of the policy in fall 2017. The NRA sued Vullo and the state the following year when three companies that provide the Carry Guard program entered into consent orders with New York admitting the insurance product violated state law and together paid more than $13 million in penalties.
Today, Vullo is appealing a decision by a federal judge that says she not entitled to qualified immunity because it is unclear whether she threatened the companies that business with the NRA.
Vullo's attorney Andrew Celli Jr. called it imperative that the Second Circuit reverse. |

A gun store owner in Beverly Hills is seeing a growing number of customers lately—from celebrities to university students—who are terrified by the increase of crime in the area.
Elias Chalhub, owner of Bear Arms Defense, said his shop stays busy from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
“It’s been a steady increase since the summer,” Chalhub told The Epoch Times. “There’s a palpable fear of violent crime … people are in the store every day, all day, looking for home defense weapons and business defense weapons.” |

Federal has combined the power of two of its newest technologies to create a shotshell option that changes the nature of self-defense. The new Force X2 Shorty shells measure just 1¾ inches but hold a payload of six 00 segmenting buckshot engineered to split into two equal pieces on impact.
When used with firearms designed to cycle sub-length shotshells, such as the Mossberg 590S, the loads offer much higher magazine capacities with up to twice the wound channels over standard buckshot loads. |

Second Amendment supporters often think that when a state legislature (or Congress) is not in session, then our rights are relatively safe. After all, when they are not in session, anti-Second Amendment extremists can’t pass legislation.
That is a true statement, but there is a flip side: Although anti-Second Amendment legislation cannot pass, neither can legislation that would either repeal anti-Second Amendment provisions already in the law or legislation to address new threats. This includes, but is not limited to, countering the existential threat of financial deplatforming. |

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms maintains a list of anti-gun businesses, which is also known as the “Don’t feed them” list.
To be added to the list, a company and/or their decision-makers have either instituted an anti-gun corporate policy or lobbied lawmakers to draft or support anti-gun legislation. In other words, they had to take action – anti-gun action – against the Second Amendment. None of the firms made the list by accident. |

High schools statewide would be able to offer a gun safety course under a Republican-written bill that came before an Assembly Education Committee for a public hearing Wednesday.
Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, a former state superintendent and educator who has encouraged the Legislature to pass gun control legislation, would almost certainly veto the bill; his office did not immediately reply to a request for comment on this story. |

Crawford County Prosecutor David Smith announced this week he will not charge a white man who fatally shot his Black neighbor in 2021.
The neighbor shot Justin King three times on Nov. 3 at their rural Bourbon, Missouri, trailer park after an altercation captured on security camera footage.
On Tuesday, the county coroner’s inquest panel, made up of six citizens, found the shooting was justified. The prosecutor, Smith, said he agreed and that the neighbor killed King in self-defense. But civil rights activists say there’s more to the story. King’s family and the Missouri NAACP vowed to continue to press for criminal charges. |

Rittenhouse was charged with illegal possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18 very quickly. That charge was eventually dismissed by the judge because the rifle Rittenhouse carried did not qualify as a dangerous weapon under longstanding Wisconsin law.
As the rifle carried by Kyle Rittenhouse was not found to be a dangerous weapon under Wisconsin law, Dominick Black could not be found guilty of supplying a dangerous weapon to a person under the age of 18, where the discharge of the weapon resulted in someone’s death. Two counts of this charge were filed by ADA Binger. |

Stevens’s tweet linked to an article about a recent interview Greene did, saying Democrats “hate our Second Amendment" and claiming Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will "grab" guns.
"Ultimately, the truth is it's our Second Amendment rights, our right to bear arms, that protects Americans and gives us the ability to defend ourselves from a tyrannical government," Greene said, according to Newsweek. "And I hate to use this language, but Democrats, they're exactly ... They're doing exactly what our founders talked about when they gave us the precious rights that we have." |

But on Dec. 16, the Nye County Commission unanimously passed a measure aimed at rolling back almost all of Lane’s order. Commissioner Bruce Jabbour spearheaded the move, saying legal gun owners should be able to carry weapons almost everywhere in county buildings so they can defend themselves if needed.
Exceptions, he said, will be inside courtrooms and offices housing judicial staffers.
“This is about Second Amendment rights,” Jabbour said during the meeting, “the rights that we have as citizens here in Nye County.” |

These bills drew objections from Second Amendment advocates. "To take a victory lap on such a controversial issue at a time when Virginians are buying firearms at a record pace to protect themselves and their families is counterintuitive," House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert declared in an official statement.
Now Virginia Republicans have prepared their own slate of bills to expand legal protections for gun owners and sellers.
Senate Bill 75 would allow Virginians to carry legally owned firearms or explosive materials within government buildings, such as the Virginia Capitol, the Capitol Square, and the surrounding government offices and agencies. Carrying in these locations is currently a misdemeanor. |

Permitless carry, dubbed “constitutional carry” by proponents, has advanced out of the Senate multiple times over recent years, only to die in the House.
However, this year the caucus has made it a priority.
Rep. Shane Stringer, R-Citronelle, said the difference this year is the creation of a database of people prohibited to possess a firearm.
The agenda says the bill will allow Alabamians to carry firearms “without first having to pay a gun tax in the form of permit fees.” |
