A state legislator from Lake Havasu City has for a second time introduced a bill to make Arizona a “Second Amendment sanctuary.”
The bill, H.B. 2111, was introduced Thursday morning in the Arizona State Legislature by District 5 Rep. Leo Biasiucci. Also known as the “Second Amendment Firearm Freedom Act,” it would prohibit the use of state funding or resources in the enforcement of any federal law or regulation that would violate the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Now the FBI warns that it believes far-right extremists are planning armed protests at each of the nation's 50 state capitols over the coming days. The issue? A study from Gallup found a sharp drop in republican’s support for stricter gun laws stems from the pandemic, civil unrest and the presidential election while gun sales reach record highs nationwide.

Gov. Ricketts openly is allowing guns in our State Capitol. What could go wrong with that? Can you imagine if the mob that invaded our U.S. Capitol all were allowed to bear arms ? We now would be mourning countless deaths.
The rights of people bearing arms should not trample the rights of people’s safety in the workplace (Capitol Building) or any other area of our lives.
If Gov. Rickets is so cavalier about the right to bear arms, how about people bringing guns in the governor’s residence, the State Supreme Court, the Legislature and on and on. This is crazy. Sooner than later, disaster will result. |

A bill that would expand the list of places in Montana where people can carry concealed firearms with and without permits passed Thursday in the Republican-controlled House, less than two weeks after the Legislature started its session.
Under existing law, concealed firearms are only allowed without permits in Montana outside of city limits. The bill would allow them to be carried without permits, including in the Montana Capitol, state and local government buildings and on public university campuses. |

Delta won’t allow passengers flying into any of the Washington-area airports to check a firearm starting this weekend as part of extra security steps leading to the inauguration.
The ban, which excludes law enforcement officers authorized to carry a gun, will extend through next week, Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian told CNBC Thursday. The airline has also increased security in Washington airports.
“We are working closely with the TSA, FAA, law enforcement agencies, our intelligence agencies and sources to understand the threat levels,” Bastian said in a Bloomberg News interview. “Obviously it’s on a higher alert than normal. We’re working very closely on both seen and unseen security measures.” |

After the violent protest in Washington, D.C., that left several members of Congress worried for their personal safety, Rep. John Curtis of Utah is calling on Americans to exercise “civility and respect.”
During an interview with MSNBC Thursday, Curtis, a Republican, showed a poster that was left on his office door that accused him of treason. The flyer was left in response to the Utah representative voting against objections to the Electoral College vote.
“Wanted for treason!” the poster reads. “For resisting the true electoral victor Trump and willful failure to stand to object to the corrupt and vitiated states!” |

Go ahead, read that headline again. That’s right, Elliott Scott carjacked a tow truck in Chicago Tuesday. However, the truck’s rightful owner tracked down the flatbed thanks to GPS, whereupon the owner found Mr. Scott in the truck’s driver seat. The owner then pulled a gun on the Mr. Carjacker and explained things.
Mr. Scott, feeling himself terribly wronged, called 9-1-1 to have the police arrest the tow truck’s owner for pointing a firearm at him. CPD cuffed the carjacker instead of the truck’s owner. After all, the truck’s owner had a concealed carry license. |

Things are much different in the United States than they were in decades past in a whole lot of ways, and that certainly includes how guns are treated.
Back in the '50s, the term safe storage didn't really mean anything in the gun world. Gun owners, especially in families that hunted a lot, kept guns around the house, perhaps in a gun cabinet, or on a gun rack over the mantle, or leaning against the wall inside the coat closet.
Only those with extensive, or particularly expensive, gun collections bothered with a gun safe. |

A Bossier City man who was sentenced to 39 years in prison for killing his friend and coworker has won his appeal and had his conviction reversed.
Patrick Harris, who had been convicted in the 2016 shooting death of Chris Flowers, has been freed following the ruling by the Louisiana state court of appeals.
Harris was represented in his appeal by attorney Jose Baez and The Baez Law Firm in Florida.
"He had several appealable issues,' Baez said. "But the biggest one was this was a very, very clear case of self-defense. All of the evidence pointed in the direction of self-defense.' |

The rush is over as people go home from work. Now, there is a slow but steady flow of customers into the cell phone store where you work. The next customer walks in. You let him look around for a minute. The store owner continues doing some paperwork so you ask the customer if you can help him. The customer turns away and then turns back with a gun in his hand. He tells you to give him the money and the new phones. You tell the robber that your boss will be back with the phones. |

The Montana House of Representatives voted 66-31 today to pass House Bill 102 by Representative Seth Berglee (R-Joliet). House Bill 102 removes state barriers to individuals exercising their constitutional right to carry a firearm for self-defense. It allows individuals who are lawfully allowed to open carry a firearm to carry concealed in the same areas without a permit. Additionally, HB 102 ensures that young adults on our college campuses aren't denied their fundamental right to self-defense. |

The first successful self-contained metallic cartridge in the U.S. was a rimfire, the .22 Short. It was introduced in 1857 as a self-defense round and it is still in production today.
That inspired a huge number of rimfire cartridges, including the .44 Henry Flat used in the famous Henry Rifle. Throughout the 19th century everyone and his brother it seems introduced a rimfire cartridge, but very few were successful. A quick count in Cartridges of the World produces 36 obsolete rimfire cartridges ranging from the 5mm Remington through the .58 Miller. |
