Surveillance showed mostly females involved, with some carrying weapons such as baseball bats, brass knuckles and pepper spray.

Prosecutors say at one point Wilson went to her vehicle and got a loaded handgun. Surveillance video showed her pointing the gun at others nearby and trying to fire it at people who were fighting. While this was going on, a person who was there with friends and family members shot and killed Wilson.

As Oliver Neal stood on the sidewalk Friday afternoon, watching his white Pontiac being loaded onto a flatbed truck, he was still having trouble hearing in his left ear.

“I thought I got shot — that’s how close the bullet came to my head,” Neal, 60, said less than 24 hours after surviving an attempted carjacking and gun battle in West Mount Airy during which he shot and wounded a 16-year-old gunman.

Neal shot the robber, whom police have not named, in both legs. He is hospitalized. Police said that Neal, who has a license to carry a gun, had fired in self-defense and would not face charges.

On Friday, the Washington Senate pulled magazine ban legislation, Senate Bill 5078 to the Senate Floor where it is eligible for a vote for passage. NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters probably recall this measure from last year, previously reported here. Please contact your State Senator IMMEDIATELY and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 5078.

Senate Bill 5078, bans the manufacture, possession, sale, transfer, etc., of magazines that “are capable of holding,” or hold more than, 12 rounds of ammunition.

Scripture assumes a theology of protection. Consider the nuanced laws regarding whether a woman’s cry can be heard if she is attacked (Deut. 22:22-27). There is no command for her rescue. It is assumed that the community would save her upon hearing her scream. It seems some moral obligations are so obvious that God doesn’t need to command them.

He simply expects others to rescue as He rescues when hearing their cries: “You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him . . . . You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword”

A Wayne County, Missouri, man's 2018 convictions on charges of manslaughter and armed criminal action were vacated Tuesday by the Missouri Supreme Court, sending the case back to circuit court.

Samuel J. Whitaker was convicted in Wayne County in the 2013 shooting death of his stepson-in-law, Carl Streeval. He was sentenced to 10 years for manslaughter and 13 years for armed criminal action.

Whitaker appealed, claiming the circuit court failed to instruct jurors that he could claim self defense to prevent a threatened arson on his property.

But his arguments parrot the same alarmist talking points we’ve been hearing for 20 years whenever there’s a bill to allow law-abiding gun owners a little more freedom. His most egregious claim was that, “Criminals might be able to carry with no fear of a concealed-weapon prosecution.” That’s misleading.

Nothing in the proposed legislation would empower criminal behavior. Those who are prohibited from possessing guns would continue to be prohibited. Areas off-limits for firearms, such as school zones and posted property, would continue to be off-limits. And the standard for using lethal force in self-defense would not change.

The legislature only just gaveled in this week and anti-gun legislators and gun control groups couldn’t wait to reintroduce their extreme gun ban legislation - an "assault weapons" ban, Senate Bill 5217. Having failed to gain any traction in the 2021 Regular Session, the measure has now been re-filed and scheduled for a public hearing and executive session next week in the Senate Committee on Law and Justice. At the same time, the committee will also consider anti-preemption legislation, Senate Bill 5568. Please contact committee members and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 5217 and Senate Bill 5568.

One of its more successful ventures is a series of conferences on Lethal Force Gun Laws. The first of these conferences was held in 2015, in Washington State. The Vermont Supreme Court upheld Friday a lower court order that the owner of an unpermitted firearms training school that has drawn complaints about noise and intimidation from neighbors demolish any unpermitted buildings on the Pawlet property and pay more than $46,600.

In its Friday ruling, the Supreme Court ruled the lower court had properly ordered that the unpermitted buildings at the Slate Ridge Vermont facility in Pawlet be demolished and that the fine imposed by the lower court was correct.

After a public endorsement from Governor Kemp, Middle Georgia legislators are divided on the controversial "constitutional carry" bill.

The phrase "constitutional carry" is what state Republicans have named their more relaxed gun legislation. One of those people is Warner Robins Republican Representative Heath Clark.

On the other hand, Macon Democrat Representative James Beverly says constitutional carry is a threat to public safety.

Constitutional carry, otherwise known as HB2, is broad legislation that would make concealed carry permits a thing of the past.

This seemingly magical ability…is the power of armed, individual self-defense…weapons freedom for the private citizen. And it is a power that the government of Taiwan has systematically denied to its people, at grave risk to a nervous world. The island’s gun control laws are so strict that WorldPopulationReview.com lists the number of civilian firearms there at literally zero per 100 persons (the U.S. has 120). Historically, the relative gun freedom of America helped it win the Revolutionary War and limited its risk of invasion over the following centuries.2c

“I think you’re going to have to present an incredibly compelling case that what we did has had a direct impact on X, Y, or Z enforcement and we’re going to have to see that,” Senate Majority Leader Caleb Rowden said. “You’re going to have to give us a solution that fixes the problem and doesn’t undo the other things we want to do. I haven’t seen that yet and I would be surprised if there is anything out there that will change most of our minds.”

Yesterday, the Judiciary Committee held a work session on gun confiscation legislation carried over from last year. Thanks to the strong support of NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters, the majority of the Committee voted “ought not to pass” on LD 1068. The bill will move to the House and Senate for consideration later this session.

Legislative Document 1068 creates two new sections of Maine law, which outline the power of the court in issuing orders or consent agreements for protection from harassment, and authorizes the surrender of firearms.

ND: Guns in public spaces should be considered madness

The upper and lower house have Burgum's support for conceal and carry along with stand your ground at the check stand should outrage you. I do not believe the general welfare of the public is considered in Burgum's Second Amendment State. Just ask the parents at a school sports activity. I believe the preamble of the Constitution covers the general welfare of the people.
The infusion of guns in public space should be considered madness not governing.

Gun safety through mandatory arms insurance

We can fix the gun problem and make America safer without an expensive, dangerous, and futile “War on Guns.”

To solve the problem of keeping guns out of the wrong hands we must use an idea that limits losses from many other hazards: insurance.

Mandatory insurance makes people be responsible for choices that impose risks on others. We must require gun owners at any instant (maker, seller or buyer) have liability insurance to cover any harms that weapon causes.
