Responsible gun owners defend themselves, but we didn't see it in the news. Andee Reardon and Rob Morse talk about three new examples of armed defense.
First story- You meet in a parking lot to sell your cell phone. Two men walk up to your car and point a gun at you. Second story- You step off the street towards your house. A man approaches you. He has a gun and demands your wallet. Third story- It is closing time when a man walks into your shop. He points a gun at you and the other customers. You step behind the cash register..and you're armed.
What would you do in these situations? Text and podcast available at the link. (17 minute audio podcast)

With nearly 1,000 people on both sides of the gun rights issue listening, Second Amendment advocates, including some retired law enforcement professionals, told a Washington State Senate panel that proposed gun control measures in that state will do nothing to prevent crimes, but only penalize law-abiding citizens.
The Senate Law and Justice committee held hearings on six pieces of legislation ranging from a ban on so-called “bump stocks” and original capacity ammunition magazines to one that would undo the state’s 35-year-old preemption statute. The session covered Senate Bills 5444, 5463,5992, 6049 and 6146.

Here’s a thing that happens often enough that it’s become a meme, a trope, a truism. Walk into any gun store and listen to the conversation around the handgun counter (or, alternatively, belly up to your favorite online forum) and within a surprisingly short amount of time you will hear someone suggest something that gets belittled by the regulars. More importantly, it will be belittled in a rather specific way, like so. |

We are mid-way through January 2018 which means Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has ignored national reciprocity for 45 consecutive weeks. National reciprocity for concealed carry was introduced in the Senate on March 1, 2017 and McConnell has yet to say a word in support of it. His silence is ironic, given the fact that he cloaked himself in the Second Amendment in order to sway pro-gun Kentuckians into re-electing him in 2014. |
