Slapped with a $3 million judgment in a Utah federal lawsuit last year, Kmart has asked for a new trial because a juror allegedly did independent research during the case.
The civil trial involved a schizophrenic Park City teen-ager's suicide with a shotgun illegally sold by the store. |

"Gladden's legal troubles may not have ended Wednesday with his guilty pleas to unlawfully shooting a firearm in the city limits, hunting a deer from a public right-of-way and taking deer during closed season. BATON ROUGE -- Lt. Gov. Kathleen Blanco and a gun safety group began a statewide blitz Tuesday to distribute up to 50,000 gun locks to firearms owners by the end of January.
The effort includes a giveaway at Zephyrs Field in Metairie on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and in Abita Springs on Saturday.
More than 12,500 locks will be available in the New Orleans area during the giveaway. |
