"Des Moines police spent the first weeks of 2014 searching for suspects who have broken into occupied homes and, in some instances, violently accosted the homes’ residents." ...
"This year’s other home invasions occurred:
• Jan. 2, when two men reportedly forced open the door to a home in the 3100 block of Jefferson Street about 4 a.m. The homeowner fired a gun at the suspects, striking one in the arm. Both suspects were arrested.
• Jan. 5, when a man allegedly broke into a house in the 1200 block of 39th Street and attacked the homeowner, asking him if he knew a third person. The homeowner shot the suspect. Authorities have identified the suspect, but no charges have been filed." ... -------
Submitter's Note: During this month, armed homeowners in Des Moines stopped two home invasions by shooting and wounding the perpetrators. |

"Greg Snider was in a Houston, Texas parking lot, on the phone making a business call. While in the lot, a homeless man approached his car and asked forchange. Snider gave him 75 cents and then drove off. KPRC Local 2 News reported on the shocking thing that happened next."
"When Snider pulled onto a nearby freeway, a police car pulled him to the side. Greg was surprised by how aggressive the officer was, telling KPRC, 'He's screaming. He's yelling. He's telling me to get out of the car. He's telling me to put my hands on the hood…They're like, 'We saw you downtown. We saw what you did.’ And I was like, 'Are you kidding me? I gave a homeless man 75 cents.'"
