... "This could be huge: The monolithic front presented by the administration is crumbling. Career law enforcement personnel are in fear of being charged as criminals and are looking to protect themselves. That could mean ultimately implicating higher-ups, as opposed to falling on their swords and taking one for the team." ...

"Last week, we looked at the Brady Campaign's 'Too Many Victims' candlelight vigils, and what those vigils say about the group's agenda. That column was one of many pieces by various gun rights advocacy bloggers that drew shrieks of outrage from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV), in just about every forum they could get on, for "mocking" survivors, and the loved ones of the fallen, of atrocities like the one in Tucson one year before the vigils."

"Except, of course, that is not what we were doing. To understand that, a bit of a review of recent history is probably in order. ..." ...

"Thanks in no small part to our gavel-to-gavel SHOT Show coverage, TTAG is now acknowledged as the biggest and baddest firearms-related blog out there. Nick and I were a tad surprised (and not a little bit pleased) when we were introduced at a New Media conference as 'the really big blogs, like The Truth About Guns' by NSSF rep Mark Thomas . . ."

"By the time we’d gotten our egos stuffed back into our packpacks we’d learned another factoid, but this one isn’t so copacetic: overall, the shooting industry carries a 40% return/defect rate."

"While we were at the Wild West Guns party last night, the fine folks behind the counter busted out this little beauty and we could NOT stop staring at it and fondling it. The gun, not the girl. What you’re looking at is a modified Marlin 1895 Guide Gun that they have hand crafted into the finest lever gun that I have ever seen. It now sports a chamber for the .457 WWG Magnum cartridge, a round that pushes a 350gr bullet 2100 feet per second, and can chamber and fire a .45/70 Government cartridge (for 'cheap' plinking) as well as a .410 shotgun cartridge. "Wild West Guns, the improvers of Chris Dumm’s Marlin 1894C, are opening a new combination retail store and gunsmithing dojo here in Las Vegas, and they invited us to their grand opening party. Once we had stuffed our faces with free food they showed us around the joint. The gun shop itself consists of a well stocked front counter and plenty of floor space for gun related gubbins as well as a special room for collector grade firearms. In the back they have a MASSIVE shop with a whole bunch of machinery I don’t quite understand that they use to make their beautiful creations. Make the jump for the best picture of the night." ...

"The Manhattan district attorney is reported to be in plea-deal negotiations with Meredith Graves, the nurse who faces serious felony firearms charges after bringing her Tennessee-permitted .32-caliber pistol to Ground Zero, apparently unaware of the fact that New York declines to recognize out-of-state concealed-carry licenses ... If reports of a plea bargain are accurate, then District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. recognizes that justice would not be served by this outcome, which speaks well of his sense of prosecutorial discretion. It would speak even better of him if the case were to be dismissed entirely, along with the similar prosecution of former U.S. Marine Ryan Jerome, who was arrested under similar circumstances." ...
