So not only does Britain disarm its victims... sorry... subjects, but it allows criminals to go free to victimize more unsuspecting, disarmed Brits.

"The debate has made curious bedfellows of the toy industry, concerned about loss of profits, and gun rights groups, who object to the implication such a ban could have on real guns."

" 'We don't think that the government has any business regulating toys, especially guns,' said Angel Shamaya, executive director of the guns rights organization Keep and Bear Arms. 'Banning toy guns is just another feel-good anti-gun maneuver, and we oppose it.' "

-------
For the record: CNN misquoted Angel Shamaya, thereby giving the impression that he'd oppose any regulation of toy safety. His actual quote was, "We don't think that the government has any business banning harmless toys -- banning toy guns is just another feel-good anti-gun maneuver, and we oppose it."

"The chase started about 7 p.m. Monday after a Wal-Mart clerk reported that a man had just purchased several boxes of cold medicine, an ingredient commonly used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine."

Why is it that this brainless, fascist clerk felt the need to report a perfectly legal purchase to the police? Have the Stasi taken over Wal-Mart while we slept?

"The lockdown began around 9:15 a.m. after a 15-year old sophomore jumped-up from his seat in his English class and threatened his class with a loaded semi-automatic handgun, according to police."

"The student's best friend was able to calm him down, while two other students tackled and restrained him."

-------
Once again it wasn't administrators or police who diffused the situation. It wasn't the lockdown that got the gun away from this disturbed kid. It was his friends and intended victims.

"It would seem that at least the registration portion of the legislation may not be serving anything other than itself. It does not heal the anguish of those who have suffered due to firearm misuse. It is very unclear how this will reduce crime. It is damn expensive. It may not be implementable. It is also making the politicos who implemented this look like nincompoops. (Note: I would normally use stronger language here but my editor has reminded me that this is a family newspaper.)"
