I am urging that Vernon County Board members reject a proposal to designate Vernon County a “Second Amendment Preservation County.” This resolution does not represent the general thinking of Vernon County residents in opposing any and all "common sense" gun safety laws.
Elected county officials, like all of us, know that our country is deeply divided and that our community is struggling through a deadly pandemic. Their efforts should be focused on solutions for the common good and benefit of all citizens and not on divisive issues. |

Considering what happened earlier this month, is there any hope the 117th Congress — with Democrats now firmly in control of both the Senate and House, plus the Oval Office — will even consider Congressman Richard Hudson’s Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act?
Not likely, as the gun prohibition lobby has the ear of the Capitol Hill majority, and they’re going to exploit the events of Jan. 6th for as long as possible. |

Two bills in the Missouri legislature would further ease restrictions for gun owners. Representative Jered Taylor and Senator Eric Burlison, who both represent Christian County, introduced the bills.
One of those bills, House Bill 85 and Senate Bill 39 is the Second Amendment Preservation Act. Representative Jered Taylor says this will prevent police and deputies in Missouri from enforcing any federal gun laws-- even if the federal laws become stricter than what they are now. |

When you first hear the name The Powder Room, guns aren’t usually what comes to mind. But that’s what you’ll find when you visit a very popular new building in Panama City Beach.
“The project’s been in concept for several years now. It’s just come to fruition in the last two years,” said The Powder Room Operations Manager James Kramer. |

When looking at the struggle of Black people in the United States for their natural rights—those of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness—the right to bear arms, and particularly those arms employing multi-shot technology, has been vital.
Opponents of the AR-15, America’s most-popular rifle, argue that its repeating capability is exceptional and that such a thing was not contemplated by the framers and ratifiers of the constitutional right to arms. |

Since about 2010, the term “EDC knife” has taken off, putting a name to a concept mankind has practiced for millenia. While laws and regulations have ebbed and flowed over the years, the tradition of carrying a compact, lightweight blade with you every moment of the day is one worthy of preservation. Whether you are a retired Ranger ready to roll at the first sign of trouble, an active duty aviator supplementing your survival kit, or a professional paramedic handling the traumas of civilian life, a quality EDC blade is an essential tool for your work and daily life. Sure, a Space Force guardian may never go down on a hostile planet, but a reliable knife sure could come in handy during the next family campout. |

A huge component of the bill sponsored by Sen. Bob Ballinger, R-Ozark, is striking out a person’s duty to retreat, even if they can do so “in complete safety.” |

Gun control has been around for a long time, and some even say that it is as old as the United States of America. Back in the late 1700s, guns already needed to be registered under state laws. In 2008, gun rights advocates saw victory when the US Supreme Court ruled the Second Amendment decree, protecting the rights of an individual to possess a firearm for self-defense. This article tackles some of the facts that you should know when it comes to gun control. |

House Bill 60 allows a law-abiding adult to carry a concealed firearm in the State of Utah, without first needing to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so. |

Today, Representative Kyle Biedermann (R- Fredericksburg) filed House Bill 1238 to restore the right of every Texan who can legally own a firearm to be able to carry it to protect themselves. Self defense is a fundamental right of all humans and you should not have to rely on the government to access that right. Our state’s capital has seen a jump in crime and was even highlighted by the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Gregg Sofer who said, “Violent crime is skyrocketing in the Austin area.” |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
[The American Colonies were] all democratic governments, where the power is in the hands of the people and where there is not the least difficulty or jealousy about putting arms into the hands of every man in the country. [European countries should not] be ignorant of the strength and the force of such a form of government and how strenuously and almost wonderfully people living under one have sometimes exerted themselves in defence of their rights and liberties and how fatally it has ended with many a man and many a state who have entered into quarrels, wars and contests with them. — George Mason, "Remarks on Annual Elections for the Fairfax Independent Company" in The Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792, ed Robert A. Rutland (Chapel Hill, 1970). |
