The reality of physics and time severely limit the number of exhibits that an attendee can effectively process during the four day event. Using a simple story mathematical problem, if one were to spend an average of one minute at each of Shot Show 1,600 vendors, over 26 hours of time would be needed to complete the arduous task. |

Q Can a person under 21 years of age possess a handgun in Ohio?
A Yes. It is not a crime for a person under 21 years of age to possess a firearm. However, it is a crime for another person to “furnish” a firearm to a person under 21 years of age, except for use in lawful hunting, sporting or educational purposes such as instruction in firearms or handgun safety, care, handling or marksmanship under the supervision or control of a responsible adult. A person under age 21 is not allowed to buy or attempt to buy handguns or handgun ammunition, but generally can buy and possess long guns and long gun ammunition.

I am a 29-year-old woman and I'll admit I don’t know much about guns. About 10 years ago, I practiced target shooting with a few different types of firearms out in the desert with friends, but that’s about the extent of it. So when I met with Donna Stryker at Strykers Shooting World to try my hand at shooting, I was both excited and a little apprehensive.

A trigger topic at Saturday's crackerbarrel at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology was the debate over a constitutional carry law proposal. The law would cut down wait times and allow permitless carrying of firearms. About five years ago, the same bill passed through the house and the senate but was vetoed by the Governor.

A January 19 survey of Ohio colleges and universities found most boards and presidents determined to prohibit guns for self-defense despite a new law allowing concealed carry permit holders to be armed on campus. Ohio’s campus carry law was signed by Governor John Kasich (R) on December 19 after lawmakers passed the measure following the November 28 knife and car attack against unarmed Ohio State students. The law removes the state’s ban on campus carry, allowing each college and university system to allow or prohibit campus carry as they see fit.

On Friday, vacationers, high rollers, show girls, and service industry workers awoke to a steady stream of rain from rare leaky skies above the desert. As the pedestrian traffic snarl along the Strip was given an immediate and thorough infusion of insidious device gawking late to the CES expo wall of insatiable social networkers in a rapid fire salvo of selfies, due to the forced shutdown of all escalators, a journey into symbolism was a needed antidote to restoring sanity.

I attended last week the 2017 Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Show, known as the SHOT Show, in Las Vegas, where I had the privilege of announcing more jobs are coming to Arkansas. I joined officials from Daisy Outdoor Products and their parent company, Gamo Outdoors USA, to announce Daisy is expanding in Rogers, where the company is headquartered and manufactures airguns. In addition, Gamo Outdoors announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Rogers. Through this growth, approximately 30 new jobs will be created at the Daisy/Gamo Outdoors facility.

An attempted armed robbery at a restaurant on Detroit's west side Saturday came to an abrupt end when the robber was shot by one of his intended victims.
The incident happened at the E&S Carry Out Shrimp Shack on McNichols Road near Schaefer Highway around 5:45 p.m.
As customers waited for their orders, they suddenly found themselves in danger.
"I would have given him money if he asked for money," Dennis said.
Dennis and his girlfriend, Latanya, didn't have much time to react. The couple and another customer started throwing their money and wallets on the floor.
"When I saw he had the gun in her face, and I threw my wallet down and keys, he turned to look and get the money, that's when I lit him up," Dennis said. |
