State Attorney General Bob Ferguson issued his support for several gun control bills that would ban semi-automatic ghost guns (guns lacking serial numbers or made in 3D printers) and magazines that have a capacity of more than ten rounds. Ferguson said, in relation to bi-chamber bills that would ban high-capacity magazines, that they make a shooter more deadly as shooters do not stop to reload, pointing to shootings in Newtown, Las Vegas, Aurora and Parkland. Magazines would be banned in the state if they had a capacity of higher than ten rounds. A similar measure is being considered in Oregon, but they limit magazine sizes to five rounds. |

Movies bring us the myth that everyone in law enforcement is born deadly, and further trained as crack shots and in ancient, mysterious martial arts, capable of dealing destruction to any bad guy of any size with the flick of a finger. Movies are great that way. |

An argument led to a deadly gunfire late Monday night in Northwest Atlanta, and police said they are investigating whether the shooting was a self defense. It happened an apartment complex off Harwell Road at 10:30 p.m. Commander Andrea Webster said the only thing they know so far is that a woman shot a man after he knocked on the door and came into the apartment. Four other people were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. |

When you walk into a gun shop and gaze upon a sea of black, polymer-frame handguns on the other side of fingerprint-opaqued glass, the colors of the Taurus Spectrum, especially on the slide’s grasping surfaces and front- and backstrap panels, are truly distinct. In a crowded monochromatic marketplace, a splash of color draws the eye, no doubt.

The Supreme Court of the United States, with two Donald Trump-appointed justices now on board has evidently awakened from a ten-year slumber, agreeing to review a challenge to a handgun transport restriction in New York City.
According to NBC News, “Lower courts upheld the restriction, and the city urged the Supreme Court not to take the cases and instead to let those rulings stand.”
But there’s a new conservative majority on the high court with the additions of Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. And if the court nullifies New York’s restriction, it could signal that the doors are open to other Second Amendment cases.

SIG Sauer P365 handguns launched in 2018 had no external safety features, relying instead on internal mechanisms to prevent unintentional discharges. However, a number individuals interested in personal-defense arms feel safer and more-secure with an external mechanical safety on their personal-defense arm. The manual-safety model of the P365, introduced in 2019, provides that essential feature, combined with the revolutionary increased capacity of the micro-compact pistol. |

A gun violence prevention group is launching a digital campaign encouraging Iowans to tell legislators to oppose a constitutional amendment it believes would weaken state gun safety laws. Giffords, the gun violence prevention group founded by former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Capt. Mark Kelly, launched a digital campaign urging Iowans to stand against the proposal by pointing out to their legislators how this puts Iowa’s gun laws at risk. |

A State Senate committee heard testimony on a number of gun-related bills Monday. KING 5 reports the Law and Justice Committee listened to testimony from a woman whose son was killed in the 2017 Freeman High School shooting. One bill would limit gun magazines to 10 rounds, which supporters say would keep a shooter from quickly reloading and save lives. |

For anyone who likes Shooting, Hunting, the Outdoors, and Tactical training, SHOT Show is a big influence. Even more so if you like guns, though apparently the organizers couldn’t figure out how to work that into the event’s clever name. The big show starts today in Las Vegas, where more than 1,000 exhibitors will converge with dealers, the media and other firearm insiders from around the globe. At every turn will be the new tools, tech and toys that could potentially improve our odds of protecting life and property, scoring higher at the range and bringing home the wild game we pursue. SHOT is where shopkeepers decide what goes on their shelves and where magazine editors, TV presenters and bloggers decide what they’ll be covering. |

Reporters and members of the public are getting a chance to get their hands on Sig Sauer’s new ultra-compact MPX Copperhead at the annual SHOT Show firearms trade show in Las Vegas. The company is pitching the gun hard toward the U.S. civilian market as a 9mm “pistol,” but its select-fire version should attract interest from military and law enforcement units. It looks particularly well suited as an option for the U.S. Army’s requirements for a new, super small submachine gun. |

Red flag laws, laws that allow the removal of guns from persons who have been declared by a court to be a danger to self or others, are the latest in the efforts of gun control advocates to reduce the number of firearms in private hands. The NRA has expressed some approval, depending on the exact nature of the laws, drawing the ire of gun rights supporters.
