Dear City Council member:

It has come to the attention of the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) that the gun ban lobby is currently pushing several ill-conceived gun control proposals in your area. The CRPA is an organization of over 60,000 sportsmen and women dedicated to preserving the American tradition of firearm ownership. Our organization has been promoting the shooting sports and the safe use and handling of firearms since 1875.

At first glance, Bernard Goldberg, a 28-year correspondent for CBS News when he was essentially driven off the air less than two years ago, would seem an unlikely participant in a sinister right-wing plot to bully hapless little Dan Rather into kowtowing to conservatives.

"Like most of us on campus in the 1960s, I was liberal on all the big issues. I was an especially big fan of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society."

Hypothetically, no firearms will be permitted in a five-mile radius of a "seaport" or shore-line town.

--Firearms are generally permitted at dockside. Since both the private property holder and the State may prohibit firearms, what-in-the-heck is this gun-grabber (Hollings) trying to accomplish?! Am I the only one so suspicious as to envision a new class of disarmed victims zones in the model of the UN's economic preemption zones around US national sites?

The 60 billboards carry the message: "Guns ended the lives of 149 L.A. County kids last year. Stop the Violence!"

"The 1958 firearm act and regulations is archaic and should be amended to suit the sophisticated Nigeria of today, if we are to curtail the sense-less attack on law-abiding citizen. We Nigerians, I believe have the right to defend ourselves and our family members instead of becoming easy target for criminals to shot and kill at will."

The news that federal and state employees were caught planting Canadian lynx hairs during a three-year study of the wildcat's habitat in Washington state came as no surprise to Donna Thornton.

A third-generation logger who runs a small family timber operation in Kalispell, Mont., Mrs. Thornton said the governments' pro-environmental bias has been obvious for years.

Mr. Bean was a licensed gun dealer in Texas. One day he decided to visit Mexico with some friends, and unloaded his guns and ammo from his truck, he thought. Mexican border guards found ONE box of ammo, and imprisoned Bean for 6 months. When released, he spent another month in U.S. prison.

Now he wants his gun dealer license back, and the BATF doesn't want to let him have it. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear his case.

"The use of firearms in America has become an epidemic," said Riley (Democrat and Mayor-for-life in Charleston, SC). "With the tragic backdrop of this weekend, there could not be a better time for this."

--Mendacious little twerps Riley and Lil' Strom completely ignore the proper legal defensive uses of guns. Never are "illegal guns" or "armed Bad Guys" mentioned but only guns, guns, guns and guns. Again legally armed good citizens are put at odds with the burgeoning federal government tyranny.

[City Manager Steve] Eddy did tell the landowners that they should be aware that police will respond to complaints of shots being fired so they can expect to have to deal with this occasionally.

Councilman Porter also said anyone who irresponsibly discharges a gun will still be prosecuted.

An assistant principal says she was just trying to protect her students when she shot a skunk on the grounds of Anderson Elementary School, but a Grimes County grand jury will review the episode to determine if a criminal charge should be filed against the administrator.

“I think the complaint and that people are trying to make something out of this is silly,” [District Attorney Tuck] McLain said. “I don’t see this as the circumstance the law was designed to cover.”

Diane Barde, one of the participants, works in Orinda and is the co-founder of the county's chapter. When Barde began her crusade, she was shocked to find out that 10 children die or are seriously injured from gun violence each day in the United States.

"We feel that death and injury due to gun violence is not a criminal problem. We believe that it's a major public health problem," she says.

She believes that the NRA's philosophy is "not a safe or sane way of life."

The government Canceled the meeting.

--We all need to write in on this one. Whether or not you agree with the Foundation, they, as we do, have the right to have redress of grievances. If they don't then there is no constitution including the 2nd admendment. Write congress and urge them to have DOJ and the IRS and congress attend.

"Fight hijackers with fists and feet, but not firearms," FAA says.

The above headline ran last week after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced new guidelines encouraging airline crews to resist hijackers.

The guidelines, while encouraging crews to fight hijackers with their fists and feet, take no position on whether guns should be allowed in airline cockpits.

When pressured to jump aboard a gun control "Code of Conduct," Huckabee did not mince words: "[D]ictating how many guns a purchaser is allowed to take home on one day, banning sales at gun shows and prohibiting a minor from even entering a gun store without a parent or guardian are part of a political agenda, not a push for 'gun safety.'"

On any given Friday, dozens of Yemeni men gather around the edges of a deep, rocky canyon outside of the nation's capital Sanaa to celebrate the weddings of fellow tribesmen. They dance in circles to the beat of drums, all brandishing the curved daggers Yemeni men wear around their waists.

Many are also carrying AK-47 assault rifles, hunting rifles and pistols.

The ISRA-PVF is calling upon Republican Gubernatorial candidate Corinne Wood to clear up some confusion over her stand on civilian firearm ownership.

In recent days, the ISRA-PVF has received several reports that Wood campaign advance men are telling southern Illinois Republican groups that candidate Wood is "pro-Second Amendment."

If such characterizations are true, they would apparently mark a 180-degree policy shift for Wood.

Bellesiles continues to have supporters. Yet their defense sometimes seems more of a left-handed compliment.

Paul Finkleman, a law professor at the University of Tulsa, says Bellesiles' book remains an important contribution, despite its critics. "In the end," Finkleman said, "I don't think it matters if he cooked the data."

--And that, my friends, is the perfect picture of a unrepentant liberal to whom truth means nothing.

"I have the advantage when it comes to issues because I am pro-choice, pro-"gun safety", and have a very strong environmental record, where his is tepid at best," Rivers said.

Rivers' theory is that if she is defeated the liberal wing in the district will support a Green Party candidate, and every vote in that direction increases the chances that the seat will go to the Republicans.

...These so-called smart cards could be used to track our movements, activities and purchases, and all the information would be dumped into Uncle Sam's very own PC to be used for whatever "informational purposes only" the government deems appropriate.

--Remember one thing, this argument is not about safety. Oh, it is cloaked in the rhetoric of safety, but it really is about naked, unabashed power!

Handgun buyers in Maryland would have to be licensed, much like automobile drivers, under legislation proposed by state gun-control advocates.

But gun rights activists say the legislation stands no chance of passage because of conflicts with the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms.

Utah lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it easier to obtain a concealed weapons permit by eliminating a safety course now required by law.

"I don't know that we need to worry about the class," said Sen. Scott Jenkins (R,Plain City). "It doesn't serve that strong of a purpose."

Jenkins' bill, Senate Bill 121, was released from the Rules Committee on Tuesday and almost immediately scheduled for a hearing Thursday before the Senate Transportation and Public Safety Committee.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY
