The 2023 turkey hunting season will be my son’s first opportunity to bring home one of the tastiest creatures in Appalachia. At this point you don’t need to be an avid court-watcher to know that the right of self-defense — one of the most fundamental rights that exists — has effectively been suspended in major cities in this country. The cases of Kyle Rittenhouse, the McCloskeys, George Zimmerman, Daniel Penny, George Allan Kelly, Jose Alba, Daniel Perry, and so on all make it clear that defending yourself generally means that the government will try to destroy your life. |

The world has always been dangerous, and most people have always ignored the danger rather than face reality and prepare for it. Nothing has changed. For those who pay attention and accept the realities of the world for what they, unfortunately, are, it is clear that the violent threats in contemporary America have changed. Typical street crime has spiked in the past several years for a variety of reasons, foremost of which is the soft-on-crime approach of political leaders in urban environments. However, beyond this, we are facing an increased frequency of criminal behavior that was uncommon in years past. This should lead the prepared citizen to evaluate their family defense plan. |

The New Mexico legislature kicked off the 2024 session following Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s State of the State address. At the top of her agenda, like the Biden administration, is punishing the firearm industry with unconstitutional gun control measures. Gov. Lujan Grisham is vowing to go further than she did last year, when she infamously made an emergency order denying Second Amendment rights in parts of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. |

Sometimes this effort has been made explicit. The Second Amendment Foundation and a District Attorney in Pennsylvania have filed a federal lawsuit against Attorney General Merrick Garland, the heads of the FBI and ATF, and the U.S. Government, challenging the federal prohibition on gun ownership by medical marijuana users.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. In addition to Garland, the lawsuit names FBI Director Christopher Wray and ATF Director Steven Dettelbach as defendants. SAF is joined by Warren County, Pa. District Attorney Robert Greene, who has served in that office since 2013 and currently possesses a medical marijuana ID card under Pennsylvania law. |

Colt set the firearm market aflutter with the re-release of its iconic Python revolver in 2020, which was available in 4.25" and 6" models made from stainless steel. Colt purists clamored for the return of the blued guns, though, and in 2024, Colt obliged with its blued 4.25" Python revolver. Like the initial second-generation Python revolvers, these blued Pythons feature the same redesigned internal lockwork as the stainless-steel versions, providing a clean, smooth, consistent trigger pull. |

The Missouri House Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education voted 14-3 Thursday, Jan. 18, to push forward legislation that would allow school administrators to increase the number of people who can carry guns in schools. The legislation advanced on Thursday concerns school protection officers. Currently, school districts may designate only teachers or administrators as school protection officers.

Beretta enthusiasts will be happy to hear the company is bringing one of its recent European releases stateside as the Beretta BRX1 makes its U.S. debut today at SHOT Show 2024 in Las Vegas.
