"In what has been described as a landmark case for the US book industry, the Tattered Cover bookshop in Denver, Colorado, has spent 18 months resisting the attempts of both police and courts to obtain the identity of a customer who purchased Uncle Fester's opus, Advanced Techniques of Clandestine Drug Laboratories."

-- This issue is key to protecting our freedoms. What is next, book about guns? We should put political pressure on Denver and write lots of letters.

"As a gun dealer, if I went to a party before, you really didn't mention you were a gun dealer," Dick Taylor said. "Now, public perceptions have shifted."

Andre Cote comes to gun shows primarily to correct people's misperceptions about ownership of machine guns. Cote said that the attitude of both the national media and the public tends to shift depending on who is in the White House.

Liberalized concealed carry laws bring two main benefits. First, those in immediate danger of being attacked can gain an effective means of self-defense. Second, regular citizens can prevent or deter murders.

Both Bill Owens and Ken Chlouber want a new bill in order to further restrict the permit system now in place. Fortunately, RMGO pointed out the errors of Chlouber's bill and is promoting a better bill. See: RMGO.org/schultheis.html

On Chief Deputy Prosecutor Bill Graff’s authority, police ordered everyone entering the otherwise closed library to turn over all weapons. “I told them to seize all guns that day,” Graff said. “It was just common sense in that atmosphere.”

However, now Doug Roper has had to hire an attorney to help him retrieve his gun and clips.

"I'm no gun nut, OK? The only time I ever owned a gun, it was just for show," I wrote in LEO, April 14, 1993.

"I believe guns are dangerous to children and other living things. People are far more likely to get shot themselves than to shoot burglars and robbers and muggers.

That said, let me make the case for the lowly handgun. Why do people buy them? I suggest it's for purposes of self-defense." --Carl Brown

"Our government's ridiculous policy regarding airline safety and prohibiting guns on airplanes had...set up the perfect conditions for terrorists to take over domestic flights...

The people of this country now realize...their own responsibility for personal self-defense, using guns if necessary...

But sadly, the Congress went in the opposite direction in providing safety on commercial flights."

If you can't steal the land through the front door, then make sure you have the back door open and ready. This is now standard operating procedure in the United States Congress and so it was in the wee hours of December 20th as Congress rushed to adjourn for the Christmas holiday. The result was "Son of CARA," yet another attack on the ownership of property in America. --Tom DeWeese

A bill passed by the South Carolina House and now before the Senate is sparking debate on the right to bear arms versus public safety.

Rob Butler, vice president of GrassRoots South Carolina can not carry his concealed weapon in the Lexington County Library, but Butler believes the building would be safer if he could, "If there ever was a problem here, it would allow innocent people to be protected."

No 'Hate Crime' Here, Boss – Just Killin' A White Man

The NAACP, the ACLU are especially silent about another inter-racial murder... the murdered man is white, and the 4 murderers are black, and if you see this story at all, it will be in the blurbs buried on page 15 or 20 of your newspaper. You won´t be hearing about 'hate crimes', nor seeing weeks of on-the-scene reports from the networks. And I doubt there will be a national TV ad just prior to this fall´s elections attempting to tie any Texas Democrat candidate to the crime.

"The Second Amendment Protection Act of 2001 would:
1) repeal the Brady law;
2) repeal the semi-automatic ban;
3) repeal the unconstitutional distinction of discriminating against firearms which an anti-gun president may find are "not particularly suited for sporting purposes.""

"Citizens' Self-Defense Act of 2001, introduced by Maryland Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, would reaffirm the right to use a firearm to protect yourself, your family, and your home. As such, it would preempt any state or local statute or decision seeking to limit that Second Amendment right."

One of three robbers of a Gas Station immediatly shoots both clerks to subdue them before continuing the robbery.

A homeless man was beaten to death in a northern Tokyo park by a group of boys who pummeled him for more than an hour, police said Saturday.

In Japan, a country known for the "safety of its streets," a recent increase in violent crimes by young people has raised questions about the "breakdown of family values."

KABA NOTE: How about questions why people aren't legally able to defend their own lives?

A unique system for tracking violent deaths, developed by the Medical College of Wisconsin, will be expanded into a nationwide program to be run by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, federal officials have decided.

The national system will build on what Milwaukee physician Stephen Hargarten started in 1994 as a project to track gun-related deaths in the city and to look for patterns and contributing factors that could be targeted with prevention efforts.
