A shooting death inside a Northglenn home has been deemed self-defense and no criminal charges will be filed.
According to a joint release from the Adams County District Attorney’s Office and the Northglenn Police Department, a man at the residence had reason to believe the person he shot was going to hurt him or two women at the scene.
About 12:10 p.m. Saturday police responded to a home in the 11700 block of Delaware Court on a disturbance, according to the release. |

In response to an increase in mass shooters wearing bullet-proof gear, Marin’s state assemblyman has introduced a bill this month that would prohibit most California residents from buying body armor.
Assembly Bill 92, introduced by Damon Connolly, would make it a misdemeanor offense punishable by an up to $10,000 fine for someone to buy or sell bullet-resistant body armor or clothing to people not employed in certain professions, such as law enforcement. People who already own body armor would be allowed to keep it but would be prohibited from reselling it. |

Just days after declaring his intent to crack down on “ghost” guns and open carry, Gov. Ned Lamont on Thursday announced a plan to reinforce the state’s longstanding ban on military-style weapons, including closing the loophole for weapons manufactured before 1994.
In addition to expanding the ban by adding new weapons, Lamont said he will ask lawmakers to raise the minimum age to purchase any type of firearm to 21, and toughen penalties on the possession of unregistered, large-capacity magazines, which law enforcement officials lamented is just $90 for a first offense. |

House Resolution 8 urges Congress to pass an “assault weapons ban.” While no specifics are outlined in the resolution, gun grabbers continue to advocate for bans on standard equipment for commonly-owned firearms that many Americans and Granite Staters legally and effectively use for an entire range of legitimate purposes, such as self-defense or competition.

House Bill 158 bans “ammunition designed and intended to penetrate armor plating or ballistic vests.” This legislation is duplicative and unneeded. Federal law already prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale or delivery of “armor-piercing” ammunition with very few exceptions. |

Rand Corporation, the think tank with origins in Cold War military planning, has been sifting through gun policy research, offering generally conservative assessments of its utility and findings, since 2018. It recently issued its latest update.
Of the 18 gun policies that it evaluates, it characterizes the research as "inconclusive" in most areas. For example, data on the effectiveness of extreme risk protection orders — "red flag" laws — is deemed "inconclusive," despite a growing body of research suggesting that the orders contribute to harm reduction. |

Charges are being sought against a 39-year-old Jefferson County man after he opened fire on thieves who had been breaking into cars. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the man fired several times toward a 2014 Nissan Versa driving on Ozark Lane, which is near Highway 21 and south of Fenton.
The man’s name has not been released because he hasn’t been charged. The occupants of the Nissan had been breaking into cars in the neighborhood. The man’s wife told News 4 that her husband only fired warning shots.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Nissan was found later after it was abandoned and it was determined that the vehicle was stolen. Also, there were three bullet holes in the Nissan. |

There was another significant hearing Thursday afternoon. People filled a Capitol hallway, lining up to testify on Sen. Tom Brewer’s proposal to allow carrying concealed weapons without a permit. Brewer, an Army veteran who received two Purple Hearts after being wounded in Afghanistan, alluded to his background in his testimony before the Judiciary Committee.
“I probably have a unique position, in that there are few that have been on the receiving end, not just the shooting end of weapons. Being shot seven times doesn't justify me having a special place in this conversation, except the fact that I understand the significance of what I'm asking you here today,” Brewer said. |

Let’s break down the Governor’s statement. He didn’t just say he supports Constitutional Carry, he politically called out the Republican-controlled legislature for its collective failure to pass it during prior sessions. The Governor said, “We’ve had a majority this whole time.” That is very important, because it is true. But it appears that the legislature is going to play the same old switcheroo game on gun owners once again. I have had multiple independent sources confirm the same thing. A number of Florida’s Republican lawmakers are against full Constitutional Carry from passing. They want to pass the bare minimum, and if that means simply lowering the costs of permits, they’ll gladly do that. |

Which is why he made sure no one in China could access that political power. Throughout history and well into the modern world, gun control legislation heralded the death of democracies. “The gears of government turn slowly” is an adage that often does not apply to government acquiring more power and crushing more rights. Case in point: the leftist Illinois Attorney General has appealed a court ruling that is less than a week old – a ruling that blocked enforcement of a gun-grab.

The District Judge, Gonzalo P. Curiel, held the bail condition of no firearms did not violate rights protected by the Second Amendment because there was historical precedent in 19th-century surety statutes, which required a bond for people who were accused of violent intent, for them to carry firearms in public. Lawsuits continued to be filed against Illinois’ gun and magazine ban Thursday as the Illinois State Police look to consolidate some.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker enacted the state’s ban on certain types of semi-automatic guns and magazines over a certain capacity earlier this month. Guns in possession before the ban must be registered by Jan. 1, 2024.
Since the ban was enacted, at least seven lawsuits have been filed in state or federal court seeking to overturn the law on various grounds.
The Illinois State Police are looking to consolidate several federal cases into one. While some expected that, plaintiffs are pushing to get immediate relief while the cases work through the courts. |

The McHenry County State's Attorney's is suing the state over its recently passed assault weapons ban and is seeking a temporary retraining order in an effort to stay enforcement of the law in the county.
The 20-page complaint filed today in McHenry County Circuit Court challenges the constitutionality of House Bill 5471, which bans the sale and possession of what the Illinois General Assembly has defined as “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines.”
The complaint alleges that the HB5471 violates the Second Amendment and a portion of the Illinois Constitution, which also protects a residents’ right to bear arms. The suit names Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Gov. J.B. Pritzker as defendants. |

The federal agency has no right to circumvent the rights set by the Constitution, and a rule of this magnitude should not be passed," said Love County Sheriff Andy Cumberledge. A New Jersey appellate panel on Thursday upheld a lower court order for Smith & Wesson to comply with a New Jersey Attorney General’s Office subpoena seeking records about the gun manufacturer’s marketing practices.
Former Attorney General Gurbir Grewal first subpoenaed records relating to Smith & Wesson’s advertisements in October 2020 to determine if the company violated the state’s Consumer Fraud Act in its claims about firearm safety, state gun regulations, and related messaging.
Smith & Wesson fought the subpoena as a violation of its constitutional rights in state and federal filings. Company attorneys argued that state officials intended to deprive New Jersey residents of their Second Amendment right to bear arms. |

The southwest Missouri Republican's "Repeal the NFA Act" would remove requirements under federal law to pay a $200 tax, register and undergo an application process to own certain firearms and accessories, including shotguns, rifles with certain length barrels, machine guns, and mufflers and silencers.
"The federal government has used the National Firearms Act for almost a century to violate law-abiding citizens’ Second Amendment rights," Burlison said in a statement announcing the bill.
