She never saw the nameless, faceless intruder. She only knows he left without getting what he came to get. She has no guarantees he will not return under the veil of darkness to steal from her, harm her or rape her.
So the lady bought a black .38 revolver. She loaded a bullet in each of the five chambers. Folks suggested she keep it under the mattress, but she wanted to be ready with a quick draw. |

The Pentagon has decided to ask the White House for approval to set up a new four-star command to coordinate federal troops used to defend North America, part of an intensified effort to bolster homeland security, defense officials said.
The move was prompted by the new domestic security demands placed on the military after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the Bush administration's "declared war on terrorism." |

"Too many people are presuming that somehow the U.S. government can and does represent us contractually, and that somehow socialism can be made to work for defense purposes. However, government institutions by definition exist primarily based on coercing the peaceful choices of people, representing political interest groups who use government power against others, and making decisions based on an incoherent and anti-social collectivist calculus." --Karen DeCoster |

The St. Louis chapter of the Million Mom March has endorsed a Child Access Prevention bill that was filed Wednesday, January 23, by Rep. Joan Bray, D-St. Louis, along with 15 other co-sponsors in Jefferson City.
House Bill 1595 would make it a crime to store or leave a loaded firearm within the reach or easy access of a minor. Currently there are no criminal penalties or adult accountability in Missouri if a child is hurt or injured by a weapon. |

"The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which has merged with the Million Mom March organization, released a report card yesterday giving Ohio a grade of D-plus for how well its laws protect children from gun violence." |

We have a little over a year to collect nearly 100,000 signatures from registered voters across the state. If we collect sufficient signatures, on November 5, 2002 the people will again get a chance to vote on the real issue of concealed carry. |

"Although progress has been made in fighting violent crime, America remains far too violent with a violent crime rate among the highest in the industrialized world. A teenager is more likely to die from a gunshot than from all natural causes of death combined. This is unacceptable in America. For our children's sake, this Nation must reclaim our neighborhoods and streets..."

"It stands to reason that with all those guns...there are bound to be wild west scenarios, even for the sanest of citizens... It's understandable that people need to defend themselves...but unrestricted concealed guns could be an even more serious threat than those posed by Alaskan bears." --Lawrence Journal-World

Sen. "Wild Bill" Hickman claims that "no one is a bigger supporter of gun rights than I am". But he's also the most vocal opponent of a bill to make it easier and less expensive to get a carry permit in Utah.
Utah gun owners, and especially those in Southern Utah, need to let Sen. Hickman know what they think of his anti-gun behavior.

Biathlon combines the heart-pounding activity of cross-country skiing with the heart-slowing activity of shooting at 4-centimeter-wide targets from a distance of 50 meters. The contradictory disciplines are the crux of the sport. Nahrgang said biathlon "is like running up 10 flights of stairs and then trying to thread a needle."
